Any weekend usually finds me golfing.

Simi Valley. Most of my playing is on Saturday. Sometimes Sunday. Played Rustic Canyon and Simi Hills recently. Been trying to sample some more courses in the Ventura and Los Angeles area.

 

PM me if anyone is looking for a partner for a round. I mostly play as a single and it's frustrating not to be able to make tee times at most places.

Hey Guys, sounds like good representation from all over the LA area. A couple questions if you dont' mind.

 

I'll be in the LA area in April. I'm going to be staying in Brea but will be going to a meeting near LAX. To get there SAFELY by 8:00 AM, what time shoudl I plan on leaving. I'm sure it's a heck of a commute and that's ok, as I commute 50 miles each way back east, so I think nothing of an hour and half drive each way. I'm going to be spending time visiting family and playing golf with a buddy who both live in the OC area, so that's why I'm putting down base in that area.

 

I'll have 3 or 4 days to play golf as well, and I read the public course thread in the California forum as well it had some good suggestion. Actually almost too many.

If you really want to be safe and don't mind getting there a little early, I'd say you'll want to leave Brea by no later than 6am. If you're a bit more of a risk taker, leave by 6:30am, but if you encounter accidents, you could be late.

There really are quite a few muni courses in and around Brea (North OC) so check out golfnow.com and you can get a flavor. It doesn't have all of the courses, but it has many. If you want to play a nice course very close to Brea, you can try Coyote Hills GC (its semi-private). Payne Stewart helped design it and its a fun course, but it'll run you anywhere from $55 to $125 per round. It has hills, water, nice views, etc... You'll need to be accurate off the tee as the fairways aren't that wide.

Stix, thanks that's about what I figured. I'm definitely in the be there early camp. Even if things go well and I get there an hour early, there's always a cup of coffee and a newspaper to be found. I leave for work here at 6:15 so it's still the same time frame.

I saw the website for Coyote Hills, it looks spectacular. It most likely will be on the list for sure. I'm pretty famliar with socal as I lived in Huntington Beach for a few years about 20 years ago. I didn't have much time for golf then, and I'm sure the options have increased as well as the prices.
