The NDMC mid size got a lot of material, the 61r would give him more feel?

Phil's a pretty big dude, 6'3", I'm sure he's got some paws. Unlike myself, I'm 6'2" w/ b**** hands

Was told a few years ago from someone who would know that Phil approached Lamkin to make grips for him (in his specs), but they didn't want to pay for a special mold, unless Phil paid for it himself...he went to Golf Pride and they apparently did it.

I've played with a guy that did that once before too...a bit strange. Also, probably not the healthiest thing with all the fertilizer they put on golf courses.

Kim is a the definition of a burnout...the guy is literally higher than a kite every time I see him. I asked him about the V2 release last week and he had to stop and ponder my question for about a 15 seconds before he responded. And his response, "Oh, yeah, not really sure when we will, maybe the fall."

Where do you play in Scottsdale mainly? Back in around 2007 I ran into Kim and Freddy Couples (with his two kids I believe) on the Champions course at TPC, that was an ODD round. I was just out there a few months ago and saw Phil actually bought my old high school course Sanctuary and turned it into a pretty good looking track.

Honestly, I am pretty lucky that when I do play(Summer..damn golf biz) I play mostly the private courses in the area. I play a lot at Pinnacle Peak CC, Estancia, Mirabel, Desert Mtn, DC Ranch, GC of Scottsdale and drive down to Superstition Mtn once/twice a Summer. McDowell Mtn Ranch(old Sanct) is right out of my back door, but haven't played it.

Mirabel has the finest grass i've ever played on a golf course. Literally every inch of those grounds were perfect. Cool layout too.

If I remember correctly the Frankenwood had a black crown, the one in the bag this morning looks like the same gray crown as the 3 Deep.

Anyone happen to know which one he's playing this week?

I believe that it is the 13* 3 Deep. The Phrankenwood has the black crown as you said and was last shafted with a Diamana Blue S+.

I just remember seeing the Fubuki K shaft in his 3 deep last week and he was hitting it very long.

He is just playing the 3 deep I believe and he was quoted as saying a 60 degree wedge changed his game when he was 14 (I think?) and then 20 something years later the 3 wood which he was referring to as the 3 Deep. He has been using this club a bit more off the tee than his Phrankenwood as of late and has been hitting it pretty nicely.

I heard that quote and I love the 3 Deep which is the main reason I wanted to ask the question.

Sounds like the Phrankenwood is a great option for certain courses but he's not afraid to drop down to the 3 Deep when he feels like the extra distance gain isn't worth it. Very interesting strategy and I'm looking forward to seeing if it works for him this week, so far it looks like it's working pretty well.
