I'm in the process of ordering a custom LUX putter...and all I have to say is that Chris as Sunset Beach Golf is a class act.....excellent and prompt customer service!!!!!

A lot of good putter designers out there, some of these guys are true artists. I like the "old school" putters; the simpler the better for me. I like the 8802 blade styles as well as the old designs by TP Mills, Geo Lowe and other oldies but goldies. Don't get me wrong, some of these new sticks are beautiful as well but just don't meet my eye.

 

The TP Mills below by David Mills is new but fairly "old school" in design.

 How about Rick Hamilton, anyone have a link for him? I recently purchased a used Rick Hamilton Design copper putter (See Pictures).  The putter was really dirty and the Patina looked pretty spotty after cleaning it so I went ahead and took off the remaining Patina to let it begin anew; I don't plan to game it just now, maybe in the future.  Anyway, I don't know if it has any value, but I would like to find some history on it.

Thanks to member of this site, I was able to contact Rick Hamilton directly and question him regarding this putter.  Rick replied with the following:

[size=3]I am the designer of this putter.  In fact Arnold Palmer used [/size][size=3]a center shafted version of this putter in the 1996 Masters.  I came out with it in 1996. It is milled from 110 copper.  I actually still have about 4 of these putters in my collection as well. I originally designed it for Rawlings Golf.  Thank you for your interest. [/size]

I have just ordered my second Dave Edel putter after having my Umpqua for nearly 5 years. My new one is a Variloft design and if it performs as well the my original one I will be well pleased. Both putter fittings were done in Scotland by Barry Kerr Consultants (ex MD at Heritage Golf of St Andrews). I would strongly recommend Barry to anyone for his knowledge and close working ties with David Edel.
