June Bend Trip..... Which Courses

Allright, I am going to Bend June 13 and home on the 15th. Today at the golf show in Portland, I talked to the club manager at Sunriver and said he could get me on Crosswater (SWEEET!!!) I am staying at Eagle Crest Resort through WorldMark.

 

Courses I've played down there recently are: Pronghorn (Nicklaus), Eagle Ridge, Woodland/Meadows Course,

 

June 13th- 9-10am @ Crosswater (Should I play 36 holes if I can??) or Play the Challenge Course at Eagle Crest or Juniper

 

June 14th- Scramble Golf Tournament at Sunriver Meadows (That eats up the whole day)

 

June 15th- Thinking Eagle Crest Resort Course then home

 

What do you think??? Thanks for the help

Play Crosswater for sure.

The other courses that I'd consider is Tetherow (haven't played it yet) and Aspen Lakes in Sisters.

My favorite in Bend is Tetherow. Quail Run is a hidden gem. Aspen Lakes is a very good track and Juniper isn't bad either. Widge Creek is a very good track, but I need to be in the mood for it. Sunriver is pretty, relaxing and the service is excellent.

So much good golf there, you can hardly go wrong. I've been quite a few times but still haven't played close to everything there is.

I'd definitely play Crosswater and Tetherow. I do enjoy Aspen Lakes, might be a nice one for the drive home.

I haven't played the courses at Eagle Crest (except the putting course, which is fun). I'm not a huge fan of the Nicklaus course at Pronghorn (too soft for a desert course, though very well maintained), I prefer Brasada next door. The Black Butte courses are also nice, though I have not been since the remodel of Meadows.

Tetherow is must play....Juniper is nice......But let me throw a knuckleball at you and recommend Lost Tracks in Bend, great course that never gets named among the go to courses....

Actually going to Bend for a business trip for a couple weeks. Was told to play Lost Tracks... Definately putting it on the list... Anyone tell me what kind of prices I can expect?

Umm...Brasada Ranch is the best of all the courses in Bend!!! You should include that one!

I'm not a fan of Lost Tracks. Well maintained course, but terrible customer service and way too many doglegs. If you like to grip it and rip it, you won't like Lost Tracks a bit.

You will have a blast at Crosswater! I gotta say, Lost Tracks is also a lot of fun and it just has a ton of character. Yes there are a lot of doglegs, but it doesn't feel over the top or inhibiting. I have to use more 3 and 5 woods off the tee at Crosswater than I do at Lost Tracks...nothing to worry about.

Also, Brasada Ranch is definitely worth checking out. It's a beautiful course with giant elevation changes and wonderful views of the Cascades. Really though, you can't go wrong with any of the courses in Central Oregon. Just pick a few and enjoy!

Brasada like everyone else is saying. The best course out there in my mind. Juniper is my favorite public course over there and Aspen Lakes is my second favorite. Tetherow is a fun experience, but the conditions have gone downhill in recent years while the price is still high. The Eagle Crest courses are fine, but out of the 2.5 courses there, I would only recommend the Resort course as it is the most diverse. Have fun at Crosswater, only course over there I haven't played yet.

Played EagleCrest Ridge course on Wednesday... Got a 23.00 tee time off of Golfnow... Was surprised at how good it looked... Wind was blowing like crazy.. Posted a 75... The wind was pushing driver well over 300 or knockin em down around 230-240... Was a good course... Good character... A bit on the short side... I hit an 8 iron into a (5) from 160 after a drive... Would decimate that course without the wind... Was all that protected it. Gonna try another one on Sunday but undecided on which one

Can you tell us about your experience playing Bend?

Yeah, I played Aspen Lakes the 1st round in the morning and really enjoyed that course. And the 2nd round I played pronghorn the Nicklaus course and that was a fun course as well but pretty windy in the afternoon. The 2nd day I played Crosswater for 36 holes and this was the best course I have played down there in my opionion (Have not played tetherow or brasada yet). Very challenging from the tips especially in the afternoon when the wind picks up. I played just before the PGA Professional Championship was going on. The green were true and very fast. And the last day I played Meadows during a scramble and then headed home. All in All a great trip. Bandon Dunes in January and then another Sunriver Trip in June. Cant wait!!!

Played in Bend last summer. Brasada Ranch was great and my favourite. Definitely one of those courses where you say to yourself, "I would play that hole differently next time!" You can grip it or rip it or play for position. Lots of options.

Also played Pronghorn which was fun but liked Brasada more. When I was there I was told to play Crosswater by several people but didn't get a chance.

I personally enjoy Brasada more than Crosswater, but it's a very nice course. It lives up to its name though and there are lots of times you have to carry or avoid water and scrub. It's really hard to go wrong in Bend though. I can't think of a course I've played there that I wouldn't play again (though some are overpriced).

Crooked River Ranch or Black Butte Big Meadow
Black Butte Glaze Meadow or Widgi Creek

These are the only courses I've played out there and they're in the order I recommend. You really can't go wrong out there. Great golf country. Have fun!

Hey jp how'd you trip go? We played Wigi Creek, Aspen Lakes and Juniper. All three were affordable. Aspen was beautiful, my favorite but I did like Wigi Creek and would play both those again. Juniper was too close to the freeway on some holes and there wasn't any trees, hey we're in Oregon. We went at 5pm to play Aspen, got 14 holes in walked and it for 50 bucks. Wigi we played 36 holes for, if I remember correctly, with a "golf now" deal that was $75. Juniper was around 50 I believe. I shot a video at Juniper of a crazy lightning thunderstorm pouring rain, it did this twice as we tried to play gave up hope and on our way to see a movie it cleared up so we were near Sisters and got 14 in at Aspen Lakes. That was nutzo.

My wife and I just played Lost Tracks last week (Sunday, July 20th - 8:00 tee time) and found the course to be in very nice shape. No complaints about the course conditions at all. We haven't played it in a few years, and it's maturing very nicely.

For summer golf in the Bend area, this is one of the best deals you'll find, along with being one of the better tracks.
