Best shaft and Head Combo's for 100-105mph smooth swingers

Would like to know what combination driver head and shaft has worked for guys that have a 100-105 avg swingspeed and consider themselves to have a smooth transition with a medium to late release.

 

Give us your horror stories also, so we know what doesn't work.

For me it is Titleist 913 D2 with AD BB-6s. I consider myself to have a medium to late release was well. Originally I had a D3 head but the D2 just flat out performs and is more forgiving and consistent. The way the BB-6s loads is just heaven!

Adams Fast 12 LS with Excaliber 6+

I have stiff in the 6+ which might be a little too stiff, but I'm used to it at this point.

I'd describe my SS and release very similar but tend to a more aggressive transition.

I believe (for me) the head selection is going to be a combination of 1) more subjective issues such as looks, feel of contact, and sound and 2) other aspects of the swing such AOA and spin requirements or open/closed face to help counter left/right issues.

For most of the issues, the r9 supertri has been one of my favorites except for high spin issues. g10 was another one that fit me pretty well.

For shafts, there's a lot of subjective 'feel' issues there as well but ones that have worked well for me are: rip gamma 60, vs-proto 60, proforce v2 65, and Axivcore green 65 all stiff.

Haven't decided for sure yet but based on some demos, the Razr-fit Xtreme w/ trinity stiff is looking very promising.

I had a real Blueboard 63S in my 910D3, but have found much better results with the new RIP Phenom 72 stiff shaft in my 910. Also have a smooth 100-105 mph SS.

Ping Rapture V2 10.5* with a diamana BB in reg. flex. I am right around 100 mph with a very smooth transistion and mid release. This has been the best driver I have owned, third season this year.Had a go with the Adams 9064 stock RIP reg flex shaft. Great low spin head but I did not get along with that shaft, kept blocking everything right. My son uses it and absolutely hammers it, just goes to show you different drivers work for different swings

this year a purchased a adams 9088 ul head on ebay for 45$. I purchased a Grafalloy pro launch blue 65 stiff for 20$ at rockbottomgolf and tipped it a 1 1/4. Its such a great combo for me! Very long and straight. My swing speed averages right at 107.

Don't consider myself to have a smooth transition but the SS is around there.

I seem to get along nicely with:

Fubukis
KuroKage (Black)
GD's (YS 6 and 7...havent hit the more pricier ones, but I'm sure they would be sweet)
Some of the Matrix stuff is good too

I dont get along with:

Aldilda RIP Beta (still in a G20...I gotta get that pulled someday)

I would say those characteristics describe my swing accurately. By mid-season form I may have a few more MPH, but not many more. For shafts, some of my favs would be.

V2 series especially the higher torque versions (Tour Flight, HL)
VS Proto 70, 80
DVS 80
Axivcore series
RIP Alpha 60
HD6
GD Throttle/Aura Red

Some of the more memorable ones for all the wrong reasons. Something about my tempo just did not produce good results with these.

For me it is a G15/Miyazaki Kusala White. Was just fit into a 913 D2 with a RIP Alpha. 5 rounds in not for me. Still find it strange to play x flex in my irons and stiff flex in the big dog.

My swing characteristics are similar to yours. I recently changed to a Wishon 9.5 deg 919 and a grafalloy Blue S shaft. (White in color), and I have never hit the ball better. Best shaft I have ever played in my driver

I have a 100mph swing. +AoA. Launch/spin way to much with RBZ/RUL combo. Straight as an arrow, but way too much spin. Tried out a 910d2 with 5 difference shafts, and the new grafalloy blue (white shaft) was a spin killer (for me). Were talking 1000 less RPMs compared to the RUL.

I am working on my launch coming down (based on chart I found on wrx, my launch angle s/b 13-15 degrees and I am at 20) but my spin #s with the new grafalloy were right in the ball park.

I am in the same boat as you are and I know it is not such an easy way to find the right combo.

Driver SS 102+ mph
Smooth swing
Smooth transition
Late release
Normally with a tendecy to fade my drives

"By accident" I found myself hitting a Cleveland CG Black with the very light and veeeeeery soft Miyazaki standard shaft - in Regular.

The result: a pure revelation.

High ball flight, low spin, long (not the longest), very accurate (I never hit as many fairways as with the CG Black).
Feelwise: smoooooooooooth! Really smooth!
Positive sideeffect: as the shaft is so light and smooth if "forces" me to take out a bit of power - I swing it easier and the results are even better, of course.

Cleveland DST 10.5 Cleveland Whiteboard Reg.
Burner 09 10.5 Reg shaft, put the smoothest swing I could on it and won longest drive with 320yrds although fairways were hard. I was as surprised as the others.
Cobra Amp 10.5 with 50g reg Rip

All quite old now apart from Amp.

A smooth swinger with a soft to medium load can get away with a lot more flexes, although, lighter works best for me. I suppose it depends on what your definition of smooth is too.

Right now, it's an i20 with an 'ahina 60.

In my 910d2, I have had success with 'ahina 60, kuro kage silver (tini) 60, V2 67, and kai'li 70.

Used to play a r7 superquad 282 with a V2 67 - one of the best combos.

[/quote]yep.....similar to op bit still everyone lil different....bio cell+ didn't fit me too well with that shaft.....i did hit one with kiyoshi f5 and absolutely bombed that driver...i have never gotten along with matrix...suits faster harder swings imo

Picked up a couple of Ping G10 7.5 deg tour van heads with Grafalloy Comp NT shafts one reg one stiff , wonderful flight , solid thwack when hit ( ? hot melt in heads )
Looking to get old stock of Comp NT shafts, they work for me. Approx 100 speed , quickish transition
