Tennis elbow problem

Most forearm pain associated with golf and tennis come from overusing our "flexors". This leads to / or can lead to muscle imbalances in the arm. Simple forearm exercises can help. To target out "extendors" My best trick is to wear a fairly thick rubber band or two on your wrist. A few times a day put the bands down around the fingers, extend the arm out straight and spread the fingers apart as far as possible ( thumb too) without bending arm. Do this to failure a few times a day when you think about it and its pretty quick easy way to eliminate and prevent many of the forearm and elbow pains. Oh yeah, stretch too.

The tennis swing and the golf swing both can cause problems but the location of the pain is different depending on the motion that causes the inflammation.

They are similar injuries, one involving the lateral epicondyle (tennis elbow) the other involving the medial epicondyle (golfers elbow). But I think you can get tennis elbow from golf.

I've had golfers elbow off and on for a few years, and wore a brace to prevent flare-ups. This off-season I worked on forearm strength and flexibility, and have played without the brace with no issues.

I've struggled with elbow pain since I played tennis in High School. Last year it flared up really badly from golf-- wearing a tennis elbow strap helped while I was playing but it would be super sore afterwards. I was practicing a lot at a range with crappy thin mats.

I haven't had any problems this year (knock on wood) partially because I've improved my form and I'm not over-swinging, but it's mostly because I stopped hitting off hard mats. If I ever hit off mats, I make sure they are the really thick fluffy ones. The thin ones on concrete are killer.
