Paiute Las Vegas update

Went out and played Paiute Wolf today. Wind was NUTS. 8i for 120 instead of 165ish.

 

Course was in good shape, which is great shape relatively speaking. Some spots were soggy, not sure why as we haven't had rain in a while and my time was mid-afternoon. If you haven't played here before, you owe it to yourself during your next Vegas trip. The layout is very well done with some nasty fairway bunker placements. Desert golf? Not completely, but you can't spray it everywhere.

 

Greens were mid-speed, leaning toward the faster side. Roll was true, color was off enough to make reading them difficult for me.

 

Played poorly, but a couple 330+ drives and pitching off the stick for what would have been an eagle on a par 5 along with solid ball striking overall made it a good day.

 

Prices are still on the higher side for tourists, but times can be had on GolfNow for a big discount. The course is a ways from the strip (only 25 minutes for me), but it is definitely worth it. The location and scenery are a good break from the strip scene and will definitely round out your trip nicely.

 

I've played most of the nice vegas courses recently. Let me know if you need a report on any of them.

heading out to Vegas June 25-27... only have one day to golf June 26th... but i have the whole day, so would like to play at least twice... do you think Paiute is a no brainer?

Love the Paiute courses definitely a no brainier

I played there New Years Eve. It was possibly the coldest I have ever felt in my life and I work outside in 40 below celcius. The wind was howling and it cut threw me like a knife. This being said conditions were superb and price was spot on. Layout was really fun and I felt like I could just bomb it all day long. I will defiantly be back next time, hopefully a little warmer next time!

Some really good deals on GolfNow for all three courses tomorrow. Not sure if I feel like battling the heat.

Played both courses there about 11 years ago and loved them. Even with 114° temps, it wasn't bad with the wind blowing, and lots of water.

Planning on playing here in August. It's the only course off the strip I plan on playing due to a short stay. Think it will be OK to take a cab from the strip out there? I took one to TPC a few years back and it wasn't that bad..

That's what I figured.. do hotel's usually do rentals or would I have to go somewhere off the strip to pick one up? Would only want it for the day. Not the whole trip.

Call the hotel you're staying at and ask. Usually they can facilitate a rental. You can also try carrentals.com

Played the Sun course today. Wind was EVEN NUTTIER than the original post, which I didn't think was possible. I had to cover my face just so I could breath easier. NWS was reporting 60MPH. Playing surfaces were in great shape, but the little things aren't as nice as the Wolf course. Sand was really packed and very difficult to get out of without going way long. My only complaint.

Got a great deal on GolfNow....make sure you guys check it out if you're trying to play any of the three courses.

Heading out to Pauite to play on June 25th. planning on playing 36 holes.

Do you think I should book on Golfnow or through the course?

Thru the course they were saying if you do the golf-a-palooza you play sun/snow, then wolf

From what I've seen the golf now deals are just for one course, 36 holes. Maybe it's different when you show up. I'm not sure. I assume golfnow would be a lot cheaper.
