What tees are we planning on playing from?
Thats another great question! I think maybe depending on handicap? If you play under a 7 from the blues, 8 and over from the whites? Or we just all play the whites. I honestly don't care, its fun either way.
That should be about right. The par 3's are where a lot of the added yardage is most noticeable. Most holes it's about 20 yards +/- between blue and white. There are a few demanding driving holes like #10 plays pretty long, 423 white, 453 blue par 4.
The course tests most clubs in the bag pretty well but it's right there in front of you for the most part. Nothing terribly quirky. The wind can help make up your mind as to tees too. It can blow up there.

Blues are 6,725, 72.9/128
Whites are 6,283, 70.5/128

Playing the white tees was fine at Prestwick. I haven't played the whites since last fall when the blues weren't out. I'd be out of my element. LOL!
I've always thought #6 was a bit tricky, at least visually. If I'm remembering the holes correctly, that is. It's been a while...

#6 is a shortish par 4, 382 blues, 364 whites. Finding the left side of the fairway will give you an opening into the green. There is a red oak that guards the right side that you have to almost go over if you end up to the right. Good 3 wood hole for many. Fairway runs out on the left with driver for bigger hitters. The green slopes from right to left down toward a marsh area pretty severely. A lot of this hole's defense is the green and putting it on the left side of the fairway for the best approach, but you can still score from the right.

I remember it being a problem if you go too far left, if I'm thinking of the right hole. It seemed to me that it was set up to be the reverse of hitting a tee shot out of a chute, it appears you have to fit it in there at the green, but it's at least partially an optical illusion.

In other news, it looks like my buddy is not coming along. He thought this was a scramble tournament, like the benefit we played in yesterday. LOL

So a minus one to the number...

In the photos I posted on the first page of the thread, the fifth picture down is from the fairway looking to the green. Too far left there is some fescue and the chute of trees does stick out on the left if you go too far left. I murdered a 3W today and left me 76 yards in to a middle flag. It's gettable, but it's all about the tee shot. Being left is a good thing so you don't have to go over that oak that guards the angle in from the right.

That's the one I remember. It looks like the hole pinches in more than it actually does, not counting the obvious tree guarding the right.

Let's all ask Mr. Divots to describe random holes for us. You should get a job as a golf course description writer.....true talent
Divots... How would you describe the 9th green?!!
Long and gently undulating, with a slope from left to right toward the pond which horseshoes around the green to the right and back. There is a higher mounded area to the left of the front of the green which is typically firm underfoot. If going for it in two, that is a good aiming spot. Once you get over the front left of the green, it runs away from you to the right. You might have 275 to a back flag, but 235 to that front mound area. Hit the mound and let it skip on and roll on to the back of the green. It's generally a three shot par 5 at 570 from the back tees, but if the wind is helping from the south, it can be a great eagle op risk/reward hole. The water comes into play on the right 30 yards or so prior to the green. Watch for the small creek that is red staked to the right of the layup area that runs along the right edge of the fairway.

There are two mounds that kind of frame the tee shot on each side of the fairway. The trees that are to the left do pinch in as you get nearer the green. If hitting driver, you defintely want to hit a nice soft cut, or 3 wood. If the wind is behind, hybrid isn't a bad play off the tee. Just make it to the 150 stake and you're fine, which is easily visible from the tee. But push the envelope to get closer and the approach gets easier. You can see the oak from the tee that guards the right side, so no excuses! ;o)

There are two holes I want people to be aware of creeks that aren't necessarily visible from the tee or as you approach.
#16 is a par 5, and there is a creek that goes across the fairway. From the blue tees, it's about 290 to reach it, and the fairway slopes down to the creek. If the wind is behind, be careful or you can go into the creek. It then becomes a 3W hole. But it's reachable in two.

#18 is a risk/reward par 5. Only 506 yards from the blue tees, but there is a creek immediately in front of the green, so there's no rolling it on and rarely does a ball take a hop and bound over it. There's also a pond to the left of the green. If going for it, be accurate. It doesn't yield a lot of birdies due to the undulating green, and eagle is worth a skin.

Played the Wilson Staff Tour yellow ball today. What a fun ball! Nice action and soft feel. Good distance control and nice control in the wind.
Won those at the last event. Shot a 75 today with them (one lost ball, doah!) $29.99 a dz. Not bad at all. Cover is really bright. Found a couple in the weeds/fescue pretty easily. Oops.

Wait....so I shouldn't wear one of the 2 pairs of powder blue pants I own and wear regularly on the golf course to this event?

The pink pants then? No?! Kelly green? No?! come on. Ok, then it's gotta be salmon or royal blue. No? Well I just give up, i'll be playing in my swimsuit.

Mr Divots, I have my bag set. And by set I mean I know every club that will be in it with the exception of the driver. That's as set as it gets. I currently have 3 to choose from and depending on what you degenerate ho's bring I may have at least 5 by the time I leave the practice tee. Also, I have some Srixon Z stars in Tour Yellow that I will be throwing your way because I am an idiot and bought 12 dozen yellow balls before ever playing one and realized I don't really like them.

Simple36, I have an unhit tour issue Bridgestone J40 56*, a tour issue J38 60* and a tour issue J38 58* that both have been used but are in great shape. If you're interested they will be in my trunk, whispering in your ear.

I have a SLDR with a DI 6x for you on Saturday. =)

As in the event in Prestwick, as good WRXs, I think we don't have to follow the 14 clubs rule. So I can go with 2 drivers, 2 15 woods, 5 hybrids, 5 irons and 5 wedges.

Cobra F9, 8 Hzrdus Yellow
Tee CBX119 13, Tee EX10 Beta 18. Hzrdus Yellow

P790 6-AW, Nippon 105S
Mizuno 56/14, 60/07
Scotty Cameron Mil Spec 350 Black Oxide

I've got tomorrow in the back of my mind for the last day to sign up and get our final tally to the pro. Please sign up ASAP so we know how many are coming. Course was in nice shape when I was there yesterday. I sure had a good time at Prestwick and hope to serve up a good time at Tanners too and return the favor. Rob and I have worked hard to try to make this a great time for all.

Just let me know if there are any other holes you are wondering about for descriptions! Get signed up, and we'll see you Saturday @ 2PM!

I will be there 100% providing I can get a ride.

Well that's not 100%.... Is your bro playing?
90% that I'm playing. Dead beat can ride along to the course with me I guess
