Also, if I can get it for $100 out of pocket (got a $100 gift card for my bday) is it worth that? Were you all glad you spent $200 on it or did you get it discounted somehow? Would you spend that money again?
I paid $250 for mine when it first came out. I'd say I'd spend the money again if I were going to, especially now that it's down to $200. The biggest problem I've had is keeping the unit charged. I will often get to the course and remember that I forgot to charge it and can't use it for that round. I need to get into a better habit of editing right after the round and then just leaving it on the charger, but too often I'm taking my laptop and using it for something else and just take the GG unit off of the charger. The releases from GG seem to indicate that they're committed to continuing to progress what stats are available and make the product better.
Yea I have a universal USB charger in my car so I figure I will just put it on there on the days I'm going to the course....even if I plug it in on my way to the course, let it charge while I'm on the range and grab it before I head to the 1st tee...it should give it enough juice to get me by for a round, no? How long does a charge last?

Don't know if this has been posted yet but a glowing review from Crossfield. Can't say I disagree with anything he said but he brought up some very interesting points about course management and how to use this as a tool to improve your game that I possibly haven't considered yet. Not sure about the getting enough juice part. The instructions said it takes two to three hours to charge via USB hooked up to the computer. I found that to be a pretty accurate estimate, had it plugged in while I watched a couple episodes of the Wire on Netflix. I don't know if that's for the first charge only though or if subsequent charges go faster as I usually toss it on the charger the night before I am playing. Also, 1 charge should last you two rounds of golf which is what I got out of mine and they definitely weren't quick rounds either.

Considering buying one of these, but my biggest concern is the little red tabs falling off my clubs in the bottom of my golf bag or breaking, etc. Seen a little of that throughout this thread....

what's the deal? Will GG replace them? Does it happen often?
You've probably seen my recent posts, I did contact support and they asked for my shipping info so it seems they will replace them. Who knows how long they'll do that? I do wonder how much they tested the force the sensors have to put up with. I know sometimes when I put a club back in the bag, it'll slide right in and that's a good couple of feet drop each time. 2 for me in a little over 2 months use.

I'm also still weighing the benefits of the data vs the distraction of tagging. I'm getting to the point where I've got quite a few rounds logged, so need to spend some time on the analysis side.

Almost pulled the trigger at lunch, but I couldn't do it. I just am concerned about durability more than anything else, to be honest.

I know as a golf fanatic, I would love the post-round analysis and I think it could potentially help me score better, but its a novelty item for me too.....I have everything else I could ever want in terms of golf lol so why not buy this thing which is techy and cool

Dooooooooooooooo it Duff!!! Give into the technology ho!!!

For real though, from a durability stand point unless you are constantly swapping these out between clubs and more importantly back into the same clubs, these suckers are stuck in there for sure. I gave each one of mine a HEALTHY yank after I screwed them in and they weren't budging. I think if you took one out and then put it back in the same grip, the hole might be widened and it could be in there a little looser. Further more I think it also depends if you actually take the time to screw them into your grip by hand or if you just push them in which would widen the hole of the grip and create a large hole.

As far as the durability goes. They are plastic, hitting the bottom of your bag from a 2 or 3 foot drop where it is a plastic on plastic impact? Yea I could probably see that causing some issues eventually but I don't see why GameGolf wouldn't replace your sensors for you or offer folks the ability to buy extra ones for reasonably cheap. The part of the unit that you wear on your belt is definitely the meat and potatoes of it. Oh you also get 4 extra sensors with the initial set so you have a few extras to use too.

I am sure you have spent more money on golf that is either useless or sitting in your garage collecting dust. I was a little worried at first but after going through all of this thread and only seeing it mentioned twice, I took the plunge.

I just would hate to invest in it and then not like it, but I guess I could always sell if I didn't like it. I'm trying to sell my only extra clubs, so there wouldn't be any switching from one set to another. Once they'd be in my CMBs, they'd be in for good.

I already created an account on the website LOL.....

I bought some TW '14 shoes instead, which I REALLY don't need, so .....maybe I'll take em back and get the game golf unit instead? I dunno....

I use GolfShot app on my phone and its pretty in depth...I really like being able to share my rounds and stats on the fly....I could see Game Golf just turning into a homerun derby off the tee for me.....I'm gonna be thinking about it.

LOL woah woah woah here, I didn't realize there was a pair of TW 14's involved which is one of my favorite shoes....tough to make a decision there!

I personally use The Grint Golf App and Game Golf together. They compliment each other nicely. The Grint gives me my surface level stats in a very easy to use format that doesn't suck the life out of my cell phone battery. I have a laser so no need for the GPS aspect there but if I want my stats right then and there they are on my phone.

I'll put it to you this way, I have been interested in GameGolf since they came out but thought it would be another cool toy and gadget. Something fun and easy to play around with. However, the accuracy, ease of use and information that it automatically provides you with is incredible and in my opinion way more than a toy. The fact that I can see my proximity to the green on approach shots between 150-200 yards or a detailed look of my driver with all the distances on a grid like it is a driving range is really useful information and very cool in my opinion.

Hey all,

I've been using my Game Golf for over 20 rounds now, and I'm starting to really see the benefit in the Analysis tab. For example, I can easily see that my approach shot misses are short of the pin for my wedges and short irons and gradually becomes a miss to the right as the clubs get longer. I fight a hook, so that's not a shock, but I had no idea how many often I was coming up short (26% of time within 100 yards). That is useful information I can work to improve on.

I do agree that the GPS isn't always accurate. Giving the GPS time to catch up before tagging and post round editing can help with that. And it is definitely close enough to determine my averages. I have not had any issues with tags or durability, although I've knocked the main unit off my belt a few times.

Anyway, I just wanted to share some thoughts after using it most of the year.

Are you referring to the TRANSFER software? I ran into the same issue and spoke with Jason...the game golf support is second to none- fantastic. Just email them and they will get to u very soon. My issue was the software my MAC had was not up to date, so I had to update my Operating System (free) and it went as smooth as can be from there. Best of luck!

Same issue. Kept trying to unplug and plug the unit into my comp and got nowhere. I read a little bit on the help areas on the site and just had to update my OS on my Mac and I was good to go!

Loved that video. But I'm confused by the +/- 15 yards thing on the green.

So is it calculating a GIR by that +/- 15 yards thing as opposed to where the ball actually is, what was that talking about exactly?

Yea that was a little confusing. I think its measuring where the ball is, but its either in that circle or not in that circle depending on proximity to the hole. Not necessarily taking GIR into account though....it does that in another analysis tool, but this one in particular is proximity to the hole (even if its in the rough)....or thats how I interpreted it at least.

Duff, you're close. Game Golf doesn't have a way of knowing where the pin is on the green, so it's actually calculating from the center of the green, not the pin. That's really one of my only complaints about the analysis. Sometimes, I'm aiming more than 15 yards from the center of the green. If I hit it where I'm aiming, it doesn't look good on the stats, but it was good! Otherwise, I'm still loving mine.

Edit: To answer the original question, I believe the GG calculates green in regulation by the number of strokes it records prior to you using your putter. If you use your putter from off the green, you have the ability to mark it as such and it won't count as a GIR, unless you're putting your third from off of a par 5 green or your second from off of a par 4 green. (Or you're teeing off with a putter on a par 3, for some reason... Jamie Sadlowski, is that you?)

Duff, I used the last line before the WITB Link for it. So you would have to combine a couple lines in order for it to fit.
