Titleist Vokey SM6

So I have a set of Callaway MD3's wedges in 52, 56 & 60 degree clubs and i like them they hit well but I hear great things about Vokey's and was just wondering if you guys could help me weigh in on whats the pro's and con's to different grinds and wedges?

I had the M grind (54-10 and 60-08) for a few years and developed a chunking problem with the 60. I'm much happier with the 52-12 F and 58-10 S and don't see myself going with less than ten degrees of bounce in the future.

The F grind is the most versatile according to Titleist (i.e., for all swing types and turf conditions) and can be had in lofts ranging from 46 to 56. If you want a lob wedge, you'll have to go L, M, S, or K. I don't have any experience with the L and K grinds.

I have gamed the SM6, Mack Daddy Forged and MD3 Milled and I've always resorted back to the Vokeys. I really like the weight of the Vokeys and the versatility of the grinds. They wear nicely, have many different finish options and their new grooves are second-to-none. I like the Forged due to the straighter leading edge, but the Vokeys still win.

I have the V Grind for Vokey 54* & 58* I absolutely love it. You have the bounce on square shots and little bounce when you open up the club face. I feel its the best option. The only downfall is that you cannot purchase it off the rack. You have to order through Vokey WedgeWorks.

I play F grind on my 54° and M grind on my 58°. So far it has worked out well for me.

As a new poster, I'll give you slack but seriously man... There's a huge amount of info out there on the SM6's, on here and on other forums and websites.

The short of it is that the grinds like M & L and to a smaller extend S, are more for sweepy or neutral AoA's. F, K, etc (higher bounce options) are for more digger like swings, or for courses that are often less firm.

Essentially the "C/R" grind from callaway is like Vokey M, "W" is like F/K, and "S" is similar to vokey S.

I've used all these grinds and have come to like the S grind the best. When you use the bounce properly it really "pops" the ball up in the air on pitches and chips, and is more forgiving then the M/L/C/R type of grind on full swings, and can still be opened up a bit for high lobs. I find the fuller grinds like F/K etc much harder to hit high soft shots with, but are generally the most forgiving from sand or for full shots especially on soft turf, like after it rains.

Find the right grind for you and they're as good as any wedge out there. Get the wrong grind, and you'll hate them, as is with any wedge.
