I keep hearing this statement. 'If you are good enough, the college will find you.'

If you are top 80 and have a minus scoring differential, they will find you.

Means absolutely nothing. Not binding even a little bit but may give them an advantage when it's time to sign because they were the first to "offer".

Source area of players reflects patterns of college recruiting in general.

A NAIA school in our area had two players from Northern Ireland. One graduated, and replacement* showed up. The coach doesn't recruit Europe - but he does have a solid link in Northern Ireland.

At a school I once taught at, we had about 130 students a year from Oman. It's not like the school recruited the entire southern Mediterranean basin - but it did have a solid connection with Oman. (The Omani sheikh sponsored an Omani Cultural Week each fall at our school).

I would look at the student golfer mix from a 10-year period to determine what pattern of recruitment a golf coach had. A one-year snapshot doesn't say much about trends.

    * I played nine holes with the NI replacement on a November day. He hit driver shots that flew about 20 feet off the ground for 250 yards, then touched down and rolled out forever.
