20 year old golf balls

Kinda of an odd question, but I've come across a dozen or so boxes of old various brands of company logo'd new golf balls. Late 80's vintage. Some Titleist DT's, some Topflite's (orange) and Ben Hogan Appex 90+ (yellow) All still in the orginal boxes and sleeves in pretty good condition considering the age. My question is do they have any value. Is there a market for something like these, since I would doubt anyone would ever consider wanting to play them.

Sure, what do you have to lose? Put them on Ebay. If people will pay thousands of dollars for a Love Boat lunchbox or a burnt grilled cheese that looks like The Virgin Mary, these could have a market.

There's your answer- draw a Virgin Mary on one of the Titleist balls and say you found the box, never opened, in the attic- opened it and look what came out- it's a miracle!

How do you mark your Titleist?

Wow look at how dimple tech has come a long way.

Those balls all appear to have the same sized ones arranged symmetrically.

I wonder just how big the gap between those and what we play nowadays is.

LOL - My parents used to buy me a dozen every year for my birthday and they were X_out Club Specials!!

I still have one

That was from the early to mid 1970's

After that we moved up to StarFlites and Canada Cups

Vintage balls in new condition like that have good value. I bet you could get 30 bucks for those titleists on ebay. People still play persimmon and look for the old balls.

Club Specials, Kro-Flites, Golden Rams, the original Ultra (a personal favorite of mine, circa 1985/1986), the Molitor (boy was that one popular!).

My first sleeves of balls were orange Wilson Staffs. Shot 66 my first 9 holes. This was back when you could actually cut a golf ball without running it over with a mower. Things have really changed.

The gap in distance has to be tremendous! But I like seeing stuff like that. I don't think about those early times often enough, so thanks for sending me back there!

I can't get enough of the old stuff. I just recieved a new dozen of Titleist Professionals. Great wound ball to use with my persimmons during my vintage nights at the muni. (cool)

Just came across this thread and man did bring back memories, Golden Rams in four ball sleeves, Molitors in triangle shaped boxes, the Club Special in a blue box. The Pro recommended I play the Finalist ball, which I'm pretty sure was the women's version of the DT.

Thank you for not just titleing the thread "old balls".

Kudos for reviving the thread! Brings back memories of high school golf forty years ago.

How about the Spaulding Tour Edition? With Zylene? Cover. Even Greg Norman couldn't get any distance out of it.

I remember at our junior golf night the 9 hole winner would get a sleeve of Blue Maxflis - you were the king of the hill if you were able to play thoses the next day with your friends in 1975-76!!!

I wonder what the difference was between Red and Blue Maxfli's?
For my 14th birthday I got a set of Titleist AC108 irons and a pair of Hush Puppie shoes! Dad wouldn't go for a dozen Pro Traj Titleists though, I think I got two four ball sleeves of Golden Rams, and I was on top of the world!

[/quote]At that time the red ,black and green Maxflis were balata and the Blue Max was a new material from the Du Pont company called Surlyn which was cut resistant and hit like a rock compaired to the balata balls
