Project X Pxi vs. KBS Tour

Can anyone compare these two shafts? Who has hit both? Looking for feedback from players who play 6.0/6.5 in Pxi and KBS Tour S+/X if possible.

i would like to see this as well, there isnt much feedback on the pxi yet.

Actually there is a lot of info in this forum about Pxi. Try the search engine. I have played both and I would say they are very similar as far as feel, launch and spin.....for me. The biggest difference is the Pxi is noticeably lighter than the KBS, especially if you are looking at S+ or X.

The Pxi IMO is nothing like standard PX in terms of feel, launch and spin. Pxi feels smoother, launches higher and spins more. The only comparison to PX would be in name only.

I have been playing PX 5.5 (with heavier SW by club maker) for a long time.
Great shaft and gives me high and accurate shots for me.


Bought a set of new iron with PXI 5.5 and am happy so far.

Here's my take on PXi (5.5) VS KBS Tour (Stiff)

- I felt like KBS had more tip activity than PXi, I take short but aggressive swing.
- Pxi launches higher than PX with smoother feel but doesn't mean it is weak shaft.
- PXi puts more spin on the ball, I have been happy with how it holds the smaller/firm greens well
- Didn't like KBS because I felt like I was not making better contact with the ball than PX nor Pxi

KBS Tour S - 226 - 263 - 330 - 409 - 564 - 900


The KBS is a bit stiffer at every measured point.

Also a +1........ I have the PXi 6.0 in my Cally MBs and also tried the KBS S in the 6 iron.
I found I liked the PXi better. Especially the lighter weight.

Couldn't agree more. Many wedge shots for me actually stopped in their ball mark! Amazing how they hold the green...

Switched from DG S300 to Pxi 6.0 soft-stepped. Picked up about one club in distance. Feel is great. I think that my hooks are a little more pronounced, though. I also bought a new 52 degree wedge and it has a KBS Tour stiff. Shaft feels great. Hits it pretty high and long. For me they are pretty similar. I can notice the KBS is a little heavier but I feel like the performance is very similar. KBS sometimes feels like its shooting the ball up in the air while Pxi feels like a flatter, high trajectory. Both are way lighter than S300 and hit the ball higher.

Im def going to have to try out the PXi irons, the kbs tours are perfect trajectory for me but the tip always feels a little too active.

Wow I always thought the PXI were meant to play closer to the C-tapers then the tours. I played the kbs tour in stiff flex and the px flighted in 6.0. I have read the pxi are meant to be on par with flex and spin rates for the original rifle shafts. That should mean less spin and low flight and a stout tip all wrapped up in a lighter package.

I believe your px flighted would spin less, but everyone swings different so your results may differ. Titleist has a great comparison chart for launch and spin characteristics for driver and iron shafts they offer on their website. Search under custom shafts.

I have played both. I have PXi 6.5s in my Nike blades and KBS Tour Xs in my 712MBs. Feel wise, they're virtually identical. I think if you blindfolded someone, it would hard to tell the difference. The PXi seem to fly a smidge higher but with a flatter flight FOR ME. I hit them both about the same distance (6-iron/187-190). I switched to the PXi shafts for 2 reasons: 1) I can knock them down. I can't seem to consistently do that with the KBS Tours. They tend to balloon up when I try to hit them really low, completely defeating the purpose. 2) Later in rounds, the lightness of the shafts seem more manageable. That part I know is a mental thing, since the weight is not dramatically different, but I seem to hit better shots later in rounds more with the PXis than I do with KBS Tours or X100s.
