Graphite Design YSQ vs. AD DI

Has anyone ever played the YSQ? I'm looking for a mid launch shaft for a backup driver I have.

How does the AD YSQ compare to the AD DI, other than being "mid launch" vs "high launch"?

Anyone have some first hand experience with the YSQ? Reviews?

A buddy of mine (scratch player) played the YSQ for a long time in a Cleveland driver. He launched it very high with low spin and swore by that shaft.

I currently play the ad-ysq and I play to a 1 handicap. One of my favorite shafts ever. I played it all last year in an Adams Fast 12LS head, this year it will be in the Super LS Xtd head. Perfect mid launch with low spin. Very workable, but very stable feeling all the way through the swing. I don't forsee myself changing that shaft any time soon. Right now I have the Kuro Kage shafts in my hybrid and 3wd but if I can find a deal on the ysq 's they'll take over those clubs as well.

I have had the YSQ in many driver heads. To me it is an extremely under rated shaft....low spin and great mid ball flight that flattens out and carries nicely. The X flex tipped 1.5" holds up real well when I really go after one. You can find them on the bay for $25-$30, sometimes you'll even find the YSQ-ST(stiff tip) on there. Great deal for a great shaft

I had one as well. I don't remember the exact characteristics of the flight, but I do remember that it was very smooth feeling.

I had one too prior to my DI I don't really remember the flight compared to what I have with the DI now as I last had the ysq 6 years ago, it was a very smooth shaft and quite underrated

How do they play to flex... pretty standard, soft, firmer? Looking as a possible driver shaft for the 12 LS myself. Thanks.

I had the YSQ 65S in a Cobra head many years ago when the shaft first released. It's def mid launch/mid spin. The tip is a lot softer than a GD AD DI. If you tip the YSQ properly I'm sure you can find a similar feel and launch. The mid and butt end bend profile was fantastic. As with any GD shaft ultra smooth load and release. If you want a stiff tip like the DI I would suggest the other version . . . . YSQ - ST?

The flex seems to play just right. I play a stiff an it's right perfect. Easy to load when swung smooth but still plenty stiff for when you want to go after one.

I have both and love both....

I've had the same YSQ shaft in several drivers.  The driver I got it in was the first "real" driver I got when I started playing golf, an Adams Insight XTD Pro.  Remember those?

Moved the YSQ to a Fast12LS, then a 917D3, then a 2016 M2, and now my M5. As you can see, I've never been seduced by the allure of exotic shafts! 

Not that I haven't tried other shafts, including good shafts that came in those other drivers.  But the YSQ is a great-feeling, stable, mid-mid shaft that just works for me.  It plays a lot like the YS-6+, which is a good thing.

I have a ysq in a 5 wood.it feels softer than the ys7 but the ysq may be under tipped.At any rate its a top quality playable shaft

Been a bunch of old threads resurrected from the abyss the past few weeks.

Odd to open a thread from a decade ago and see a post that you had made (and forgotten about).  
 

Also interesting to think of the products purchased in that time period.

For sure both. I had a YSQ for a while... it was old and got it at a steep discount even all those years ago haha good times
