This: They aren't going to send you the next low end golf ball for testing, because they don't want opinions of the company to be swayed by having people test low performance golf balls. They want the person who gets the test golf balls to be wowed by them, and tell all their friends that Titleist is coming up with something great so that the tester and their buddies all go out and buy the latest and greatest when Titleist releases it.

 

The only sort of testing I would picture them doing on the cheap (DT or NXT) golf balls is durability testing really. They can get the spinrates down from the ProV's just by looking at numbers, then just bang the balls around some cart paths to make sure they're plenty durable. They want to do testing on the ProV's to see what people think of the feel of the golf ball compared to their current ball. This gives them the ability to back up their marketing hype of "Softest ball ever!" with a couple of statistics they've carefully massaged out of the testing surveys.

I found them to be much softer, but unfortunately a lot less durable.

Well last years "test ball" was the DT solo, I'm hoping this year is the pro v,

They just put out the new NXT tour S which I've been using and like so far, so I can't see them sending those out being they were just released, Im thinking its the Pro V, I'll compare dimple patterns etc when I get some time.

How do we know this? Titleist never told me what they sent me when I was in the test group.

I've got mine as well, they seem softer than the ProV1, and they spin a little higher off the wedges around the green. I'll play them this weekend to get a more rounded opinion.

We don't know that. Only whether it's surlyn or urethane. Last years ball was not the DT solo because it was the tru soft that replaced the solo.

Last years test ball was easy to see if you compared it to the DT solo, I also confirmed with the titleist ball rep at work.

I got mine the other day. Have not tried them yet. I am hoping to this weekend. Funny this was, I just got done playing a round on Tuesday, got home checked the mail, and they were in there. One day earlier and I could have put them in play. Oh well, just means I need to schedule another round.

Wouldn't the Solo be the DT Trusoft?

 

I signed up for this but guessing I didn't get anything because I checked Top Flite as current ball played.

 

I did get a free sleeve of DT Trusoft last year when I registered my hole in one with a DT Solo. Probably should stick with that one but I hang around this forum and want to try them all. :-)

Played the red today. I liked it a lot. It felt fairly soft, very controllable, good distance and felt very good on the putter. Have to add it was a pretty cool day in the mid 40's and breezy here in Minnesota.
