Great pictures. As I mentioned several times on this site the 3 diamond head is much larger and without the horizontal crown line. Most people like compact heads but this is why this club intrigued me so much. It’s a larger head with more MOI and looks more like my Rogue!

 

It is literally a completely different club. More differences than similarities.

 

Have you hit it? Wonder if it has the flash face or not.

Here’s my story. Went for a driver fitting and the Epic flash SZ 10.5. Beat out all the new drivers and my Epic SZ. I really wanted a m5 or 6 too make my bag all TM but it didn’t workout.

Not going for a fitting and listening to others opinions is insanity.

I thought the line on the crown of the retail Flash was a result of feedback from tour pros that wanted an alignment aide similar to Taylormade. Only none of them are using it.

Haha great point. I am assuming he meant It appears larger because of the different shape, but its not "larger". It is actually a smaller head (445cc). However the different shape is slightly longer back to front but with a lower profile. More pics below. The one with the shaft in it is the 3 diamond head and the one without a shaft is the standard Sub Zero tour issue.

 

3 diamond head also has slight fall right fade bias.

Jeesh. Even the non diamond tour SZ doesn't have the line on it. As mentioned previously, this was supposedly put on at the request of the tour staff. Funny that it seems to be absent from all the tour drivers I've seen pics of.

When I said larger I meant larger footprint front to back. Think Epic vs. Rogue. Sorry for not being more clear. The two diamond is a more compact looking headshape I was told from someone who owns one

No worries.

 

As an experiment, next time you have 2 identical drivers, put them down on the ground, putting your eyes directly above and right between the 2 of them and tell me if they appear to be the same size.

 

Then, switch them and tell me what happens. :)

Originally thought it was just lower lofts but now I'm starting to think it's like the old TM R1 line with the tour issue v1, v2 & v3 models. Wasn't one of them shallower and wide face to back like the 3 diamond Flash?

There is nothing wrong with secret tour heads but I know it drives regular consumers crazy.

 

It may drive some WRXers crazy, "regular" consumers who buy clubs at box stores and not from people who sell off the tour vans don't know and don't care.

Something about it bothers me. If the driver works for me, that's great. But I didn't like when TM did this either. They have these pros touting the companies latest and greatest. When in all reality, they're playing a completely different club.

There is a no diamond sz model for the tour...it’s the same as 1 diamond head

Sharpie over the diamonds is just to designate between the two heads. They are the exact same shafts, heads, setup with some minor differences, you have to be able to tell the two apart.

Though you're likely 100% right, the two heads have different weights and can't be differentiated immediately based on that. There's always a chance there's more to it. Could be something negligible, of course.
