And what color dot do I get now on a shorter shaft? I’ve had three sets of Ping and they were all blue dot. Has the color scheme changed?

The only change in the color scheme was about two years ago when they eliminated yellow and purple and went from 0.75* to a full 1* between color codes. So blue used to be .75* up from standard black, now its 1* up.

When you order from Ping you can order short and you can also specify that they maintain the 1/2" length increases all the way through the set, instead of the 5/8" increase starting at the 6 iron. As long as you specify SW you'll get what you want. Just check all the specs when you get your clubs, Ping assembles a lot of sets and mistakes do occur.

You have to make sure you specify SW specifically...... i ordered mine to match my old i25’s & they sent me the correct lengths but the sw were all jacked because I didn’t put in the order what SW i wanted. My 4 iron was C5.....Easily fixed with lead tape, but their CS couldn’t have cared less.

Edit: I wouldn’t care if i had to use duct tape and flex seal to make them right, they are the best set of irons I’ve ever had in the bag.

I have played/hit just about every ping model ever introduced. The new G410 is a good iron. I personally don't think it has a good feel (feels harsh to me just like the I500). I do like the way they look at address the shorter blade length and reduced offset. Not a big fan of the rear cavity back but who see's that at address? I am a low handicap but have played Ping G models with good result's over the years.

I tried a set of G400 earlier this year. I found them easy to hit and they flew a little higher than I am used to for a G iron. My problem was they did not stop quickly enough for me even with the extra height and they had some hot spots (good 7-4 iron sometimes going 10-12 yard further than normal). I had way to many shots over the back of the green.

Back to I200's for now.

Last night I hit a 7 iron to a par 3 with a creek in fornt and hit it off the toe bad. I thought it was wet but the shot ended up 10 feet left of the pin. I'll take a little harder feel for forgiveness like that.

I had a similar shot on a 210 yard par 3 with my 4 iron iBlade. I don't even think I hit grooves - it was a BAD swing. Looked for my ball 50 yards short which is where I thought it was. Couldn't find it. I kept walking and found it 5 yards short of the pin just shy of the green. You'd be surprised how much help the smaller irons still give.

I don't know, but since the G30 irons, I have lost interest in Ping irons. Yes, I have continued to buy new Ping irons every 2 years like many of you Ping hardcore do. But, after this year's G410's, I have sworn off Ping irons (the woods are still great!). I don't like the thinner faces, strong lofts, less good feel, and I hate the new shiny surface of the irons. I like the old gaudy, peuter style and appearance of the irons over the new one's, since the G series.. The newer one's get all scratched up and the finish looks like crap after 5 or 6 rounds (I don't put face covers on my irons and refuse to do so).

yes, the new G410's go longer, but that's mostly due to stronger lofts.

I have made the switch to Mizuno 919 HM Pro's. Now, there's a great iron!!!!!!! Great feel and classy look!

To each his own. I haven't had any of the issues you have had and my handicap is going down so I'm all good.

I have been playing Ping irons since the Eye2 irons came out, always bought new irons every time they came out with new irons, in short I was a Ping ho!!!!

But, all good things come to an end. There are many other club makers that have as good or better clubs than Ping clubs.

I lost interest in Pings with the onset of the Ping G irons, the new shiny chrome irons, not the peuter type of Ping's I have become accustomed to, so I have moved in another direction. I also feel the G Series line has morphed more into a Super Game Improvement club, more than it is a game improvement club. That's my interpretation, it may not be yours, which is fine by me. I'm just expressing why I don't like the G410 irons, which is the purpose of this forum, to express my thoughts.

Sorry you don't agree, but that's OK as well.

I tend to agree with the finish, and don't think the Gs/G400s are that much different than the G30s. I haven't played with the G410s, although everyone seems to flag these as a noticeable change, so I am keeping an open mind. Everyone's has their own definition but I also think the G series is closer to or more SGI than some of the other GI offerings out there. But I'm not sure that has changed just recently. Maybe it's the thinner faces (and associated feel) and keeping up in the lofts arms race. I think some Ping people would disagree based on the the Karsten, GMax, and G700 irons, which may be true, but vs. other OEMs the Gs (whatever series) seem to be more hacker/less player type club (and I'm fine with the hacker designation).

I totally understand. Much like you I've played mostly Pings for over 30 years. And the first time I hit the 410's I didn't like them at all. I thought they felt harsh. Once I went through a good fitting and found the right shaft for me things clicked. They feel solid not soft and that's okay. I think they look dang near sleek compared to some other irons in their category. I love the finish, I think it looks classy as hell. But for me the biggest thing is results and the Pings pass with flying colors.

Picked up a used set and am sending them out to Ping today to get the lie adjusted. Compared them to my i200's and they are a bit bigger but I played G25's for many years so something comforting in the size. I'll take all the help I can get and if the G410's help me get in the hole in fewer strokes then that's what I'm looking for.

I bought and played used G410 with AWT 2.0 shafts for a week, then had to return them back due to serial numbers not matching. Bought G400 instead with Modus 105 shafts and couldn’t be happier.

I think I out-smarted myself. In my younger days, I loved the "pro series" line of Callaway. For example, X18 Pro Series or X20 Tour. It seemed like I would go from Ping to Cally to Ping to Cally, etc.

Anyway, I got a great deal on trade ins for a set of Mavrik Pros. After trade in bonuses, I was out about $15 for brand spanking new irons. They are not for me . I am not 40 anymore. At 60 (in 3 months), I want easy. The Mavrik Pros are great irons, but I will sell them and will come crawling back to Ping asking forgiveness.

You wont be disappointed. I got the G410 irons after playing the P790s from October of last year until recently getting the G410s and all the G410's want to do is go straight. I can put a pretty bad swing on them sometimes and suprise myself with the distance and forgiveness these things have.

Long-time Ping player here. I demoed these at the Ping fitting center in Arizona. I hit them decently, but they felt harsh. For me this has been the case with the G and G400 as well. Those that like them, what kind of shafts are you playing?

I'm playing Accra i80s (graphite). They do feel a little harsh, but I can overlook it when the ball goes high and straight. My son pummels these. He and his 15 year old muscles and back sends my 6-iron 210 yards. I'm sure he's about to steal my sticks.
