2019 Ecco Biom Hybrid 3

Ecco redesigned the Biom Hybrid 3 for 2019. It's actually more of a return to form, as it closely resembles the Biom Hybrid 2 but with simpler styling. I for one am grateful. I wasn't a fan of the BH2 look or feel, but love my 2018 BH3's. The 2019 is even better. The styling is simple and understated and the fit and feel is exactly what you would expect from Ecco: ready to go right out of the box. I like the simple white with black sole, but do hope they offer some more colors.

A couple of cons: the laces are a little flimsy. I wish they would have gone back to the Biom laces of the BH2. Also, I've never been a fan of the heel sockliner design. But it's soft enough and does not rub above my Swiftwick lowcut socks.155824-01007-main-nfh.jpg?sw=1400&sh=1400&sm=fit&q=100

IMO, you don't really notice much if any difference when walking between boa and laces. Might have to re-adjust during the round once or twice, but maybe a twist or two here or there...takes all of 2 seconds.

Good to know, thanks.

These just arrived, a few difference from the 2018 model. No more fabric around the ankle and heel, all leather with a kind of fabric neoprene bit around the achilles area. Laces are much thinner and feel a bit flimsy. Lot cleaner look with less areas to build up dirt or look grubby. Sizing is maybe a little longer than the 18's, not much but slightly noticeable, perhaps a quarter of a size. I walk 99% of the time so I will put a thicker cushioned insole in to replace the existing one. All in all its a nice shoe with the same Ecco quality.

Ive had all the biom hybrids from the start. I like the look of these. Wasn't a big fan of last years styles. Still one of the best walking shoes out there.

Actually going to return them. Even with my thicker insole put in they are too long, heel is slipping out. The 2018 was more true to size.

Also, a real negative is the laces. They are super thin and you cant just pull them and it tightens across the whole foot like the 2018. Verry fiddly!

@fredstar You likely already returned them, but I emailed ECCO customer service and they sent me a pair of legit BIOM laces for free.

Yes, only because the size was too big.

I tried that with my trail running shoes and wore them out in 3 rounds. The were Hoka's but still.. The mesh outside my little toes wore out almost creating a hole. Darn comfy on the course tho....

Sad to hear that. I hope mine hold up over time because I am running out of ideas for good quality shoes that last more than a year.

Same,, I think it mainly boils down to lateral flex in 2 areas, the upper and the sole. I think the Hoka's sole material is too soft and does deform easier than others. Uppers these days is hit or miss, more miss when you choose a light weight shoe. The mesh is really not that supportive.. LOL, Nike said I should be replacing my running shoes every 3 mo. (I tried to warranty a blown air heel pod after 5 months of mostly standing on a bicycle showroom floor)..

New fan of the Biom Hybrid 3 BOA here ... I found the toe box on the new model much more roomy than last years model. I've never been able to wear Ecco's before! BOA definately felt roomier than the lace models.

Without a doubt. The previous Biom models were not as spacious. I wear a 47 in this Biom 3 model and before couldn’t comfortably wear that same size.

I bought 2 pair this year of the white BOA model and they fit exactly the same. However the perforated toe box is different. But doesn’t affect anything. One has small tiny holes and one has larger holes.
