Bought my first driver - 910 D2

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, greetings from New Zealand.

This is my first post and i guess my first venture into playing golf seriously.

I have recently just bought a 910 D2 for $40 USD, it has a Project X 7C3 shaft in it.

Should i be looking at a new shaft or will this suit me, i've never had my swing speed measured but i definitely don't hold back and i'm a pretty fit guy so i wouldn't call it slow.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Like GSD said, you have to hit it.

That said, the 910 D2 is one of the best drivers of the past decade. Paired with the right shaft for your swing it will perform. I played mine for about 8 or 9 years before I found something that I actually thought offered an improvement.

Im not new to the game but this is the first time i've actually bought a club and im challenging myself to find older kit that still performs well instead of going all out on brand new clubs like all of my mates.

So kind of a whos who of kit from the last decade. I think ive done well with the driver but we will see when it arrives

Great driver... may spin a little more than the newer stuff, so if you are a strong swinger lower loft may help you here but it's very forgiving and can keep up with anything if set up right for you. Still own one myself!!

I've never really owned/used a good driver before so I have no idea what to expect from it, I'm excited but quite worried I may be horrible with it haha

1. Nothing wrong with that driver

2. There are sooooo many iron combinations out there that it's tough to say. You might try the Titleist AP1 or 2 lines as they are held in high regard on this board. Go down to the shop and try some out (and other varieties as well, the more the better), and then once you've found a style and manufacturer you like, have a look at their 4-6 years ago offerings and see if you can find a similar club used from that era.

Unfortunately all I'm really good for is throwing out recommendations for 15 year old Hogan irons (see screen name) in which case, Apex Edge Pro or Apex plus.

Can anyone shed some light on the Miura brand?

Over here a guy is selling a used set of MIURAGIKEN CB2003 irons 4-9,P,A with DG stiff shafts. They look pretty tidy actually even if a bit uninspiring compared to the mainstream brands.

He is selling them for $220USD. Surely anything is better than the things im using atm.

Any information would be helpful.

  • 2 weeks later...

A club or set in my opinion cannot be above one's level of play. All clubs have a certain way of swinging them that will produce a result, the job of the golfer is to find it (or buy more clubs...) Hopefully this set is something you work to master and helps you become the player you want to be.
