UST Mamiya Frequency Filtered putter shaft

Hmmmm I've had one of those sitting a box full of putter shafts,might just have to give the UST a try!

I'm going to put this shaft into my 370gm head. I have a regular putter shaft in it now and has a little "hard" feel to it. The UST shaft should add a little softness to it as it did for the rife I had on it before.

I like the shaft and the SNSR grip so much in my Yes! that I ordered them also for my Scotty putter. Should have them at the beginning of next week.

I just ordered another one myself. For a restored (by Torrey Rat dot com) Scotty TEI3 Del Mar 2 longneck. Got in from Golf works. Along with blacked out Pingman, should be hot butter.

Dan, great looking putter. They do a great job.

 

The putter feels nice with the 370g head with the FF shaft. Mine is paired with an Iomic absolute X grip. Feels nice

It is amazing, I seem to keep coming back to the shaft. Great feel, solid and soft. I absolutely love this putter shaft and won't have a putter in the future without it.

It just adds a nice more responsive feel to it. Its not something that yoy can describe, its just a nice feel. Crisp yet soft. I don't think I could have a putter without one.

It's a love it or hate it item. I straddled the fence initially, putter felt dead to me, lacking better description. But I soon found I was losing some feedback, with less vibrations coming up the shaft. But almost like the vibrations that did reach the grip were more honest. It's a very subjective thing, feel. But I just bought another one for a most valued Scotty TEI3, so I'm a fan of the UST shaft. I will say this, the longer you use it, the higher your opinion of it will likely be. After 10 minutes, I would have gave it away. After 30 min or an hour, I was getting intrigued. After a few practice sessions on putting green, I was loving it. My distance control is certainly better with this shaft.

Anyone have any suggestions on an affordable head ($50-75-ish) to build one with?

 

I just use standard golf grips so it seems like you could build one for around $100 +/-

I use this shaft in all of my gamers and have it in a couple that are (or may become) retired.

 

I use it heavier heads - a 350gm solid copper anser style from Daito - man nice putter but the sole is cambered(?) too much for me. In this putter I have a 38" shaft for yucks to see if I can adapt to that style - it did not work - I need to cut it down. I have it my Machine 360ish gm putter - this is my main gamer - and it's terrific. I have it in an odyssey tour black - whatever their version of the B60 was. And, once I get it back from Torreyrat, I will have it in a Cameron long neck.

 

I also backweight all my putters with a big 2 to 2 1/2" clevis pin.

 

I use gripmaster grips as well.

 

Once I got used to the feel I can no longer putt well with a conventional shafted putter - and yes, some is in the head.

 

So, here's a question, how can I safely add weight in the shaft to offset a lighter than usual head (the Cameron will be under 330gm (I think) when I get it back from Torreyrat. I have some lead tape but there is no way I am gunking up a newly refinished head with that. I could shove it up the shaft I suppose/assume, then torch the tip to help it melt and seat in the shaft, but I am at a bit of a loss as to how best to handle this...any ideas?

I have a nice Byron Proto Asian release with a 365g head and a shaft of only 33". I think I will stick one of these in and put the Byron Masters grip and headcover on her. I will report back.

Is it basically the same shaft as the new Odyssey Stroke Lab shafts? I liked those putters (and shafts) when I messed with them in GG

Interested in a comparison between these two as well. Not even sure where to buy an aftermarket Stroke Lab shaft (and assume it'd be a lot pricer than the FF), but I'm refinishing a couple older putters and would love to understand if people prefer one over the other.

I just bought one (double bend) I'm thinking I might put in a Wilson Vizor mallet I have. We'll see...
