Is it the carpeting from a Toyota Camry or something? Why is BirdieBall in the title? I'm so confused. Also the Golfwrx watermark gives me pause. Seems... quite scammy, but maybe it's just a weird listing.

I can't speak to the listing but I remember an interview with Webb Simpson (it might have been the "Inside the PGA Tour" show) and Webb had a bedroom that was completely carpeted with "Toyota Camry" carpet. He was told by Ben Crane that Toyota Camry carpet was the perfect speed to simulate tour greens.

Appreciate the comments, but I am not too worried about whether or not the listing is a scam, between paypal and my credit card, I will get reimbursed if it is a scam.

More specifically Webb Simpson used Toyota Camry "trunk carpet" or liner. There were threads about it back then here when that show aired.

I bought this same carpet. Love it. I built a platform with a couple holes and then used spray adhesive and put this carpet down. Works great, I use it almost every single day.

This a pretty awesome DIY project. It's got me wondering if I could build a frame that would be able to simulate slope, while still being sturdy.

Can't offer anything about Camry carpet. But if you are near a Menards home improvement store, I can offer something else.

I don't have the SKU, but they have (had, anyway) green indoor outdoor type stuff on the big rolls in the carpet aisle. I'm not near it now, but it's about 5-6mm (not quite 1/4") thick, and smooth, not grassy. I threw a piece of that down on my garage floor, and it putts true and fast, like a fairly fast green. It also can take reasonable abuse. I wheel my mower and trash cans across it, etc.

I'm at our snowbird house in AZ for the winter (no Menards here). HD and Lowes didn't have the same product, but I bought something that is very similar, and it's almost as good.

I was remodeling a condo and I had a bunch of left over building material. Bought the carpet, painted some wood, got a piece of super smooth pine. Knew it was going in the living room so I painted it with the same color as the rest of my trim. You could for sure build slope into something like this. Thinner piece of plywood and build up a side with some shims. I think it would be easy, but this carpet rolls fast. I think you would have a pretty sharp breaking putt even with a little undulation. I need on of these for my office. Maybe I will throw another one together and tell you how it worked out. Lol. I still have carpet left from the first roll I bought.

Ive got great carpet at work, but the floor isn’t flat and breaks putts like no ones business haha. Let me know how that goes, I want to build one but don’t have space in the house currently.

Over the weekend I decided to do some testing as it was warm and I could take samples out to the course and test speed of material vs actual green.

I decided that the stuff in link below rolled the best and speed as actually close to our actual greens. I do not have a stimpmeter or anything like that. Speaker liner, Toyota trunk carpet, marine carpet, basically all the same exact thing. I used it and it was way too fast for me, like 15-16 stimp. Ymmv

So after having this for a couple weeks wanted to provide some feedback.

This stuff is great, rolls perfect (it is laying on smooth finished concrete) and the speed is nice. I have definitely noticed it is faster in one direction than the other and tested with a fixed "ramp" roll. Would love to stimp it out, but the cove modeling at lowes was very flimsy and would not work. If anyone has a stimpmeter and is willing to ship to me I will pay to ship back. If the speed on this stuff is where I think it is, this is a much more affordable option than the putting turf sold online. I paid $70ish for 20'x6'.

I use the same brand of carpet. It's made of recycled plastic and it rolls awesome. But I don't buy it from Menards. In the spring and summer Costco sells a green 6X8 piece for $13. I've got two of them taped together in the basement and use it a lot. It can be vacuumed which will slow it down for a little while, but it rolls true and is cheap. Highly recommended.

I just built my green and went with the Camry Carpet - it turned out great. I wasn't surprised though after hearing Webb Simpson had his basement covered in it lol. 

 

It rolls smooth and I use a chalk line on one side and it's great. Building the base + carpet + cups cost me ~$275. This green is 4 x 16'

Hope this gives everyone better insight on the carpet. I personally love it, this project would've been $1000+ without the Camry carpet option.
