PING AWT 2.0 IRON SHAFTS

Hey all,

does anybody have experience with the PING AWT iron shafts? My S55 irons have just been replaced with Iblades on warranty (paint defect) and they didn't have my shaft specifications in the X-stiff ping CFS, so I opted for the other option (ping AWT X-flex). Has anybody tried these shafts? what kind of difference should I expect? I'm not much of a shaft head so I thought I may as well avoid the added charge of a non-ping shaft and give the AWT a try.

They are really good shafts in my opinion, I have NOT played the X flex however. The weight of the shafts gets slightly lighter with a lower kick point as the shaft gets longer, so the 3 iron will be slightly lighter and higher launch than a 9 iron shaft. Smooth feeling, mid weight.

that is awesome to hear! I had CFS S-flex in my old irons but they always felt far softer than any other stiff iron shaft I tried. Since I was going with PING shafts again I decided to go for the X-flex because I would always prefer heavy/firm rather than light/wobbly like the CFS stiff. It's possible the S in AWT would have been different but since I wasn't able to test the AWT I went for the safer option.

I have these in my I200's. Good shaft made by Nippon. Based on the 105 Modus I believe but custom tweaked to Ping specs for the variable weight concept.

Both AWT 2.0 and CFS have a 10 gram weight progression through the set, but in opposite directions.

Good shaft, made by Nippon, CFS is a True Temper shaft. As Nessism mentioned, the CFS is descending weight, so the shaft gets lighter as you move into the shorter clubs, AWT is the opposite. My preference is constant weight, so of the stock shafts being offered by Ping I would have gone with the Modus 105 or the KBS Tour. I think Modus 105X would be a great choice but may play a touch softer than CFS-X.
