tried the kuro kage tini, it's close but does not feel as smooth as the whiteboard.

There are many MRC offerings with a profile similar to the OG Whiteboard but feel will vary greatly. If feel is a high priority, the 2nd gen D+ will likely be closest (1st gen was closer to the Ahina).

I've tried them all, if not the Ahina, and it' down to possibly D+ and Tensei I'd say definitely go with the Tensei Pro White.

Just go to the MRC website and read about the new technology they've incorporated into the new Tensei shafts. I for one find it hard to beat the 1st Gen. MRC shafts (mainly Whiteboard & Blueboard) but they can explain the new tech in a single paragraph better than I can in four. The new Tensei is the real deal.

nitram, I can agree with you there, they do explain the shafts makeup. But for me at least reading reviews like these help cut through some of the marketing BS on OEM sites, especially if you live in place where demoing these shafts/clubs etc. are just not possible (like where I live we have absolutely nothing here). So I tend to do heavy WRX research before making a purchase because there's certain members on here that I respect.

 

But like nitram mentioned about looking at their site you can use the site to compare specs of the shaft your interested in, against other models from that company so that can be very helpful too.

The forward march of shaft technology (and especially when it comes to spin reduction) has been all about pushing things towards making and stronger and more stable shafts while preserving the delicate balance of weight and feel. Any shaft manufacturer could produce the most insanely stable, low spinning shaft right now if they wanted to but it would likely be heavy and feel terrible. An actual piece of rebar would be very low spinning! Likewise, any manufacturer could produce the smoothest noodle feeling shaft ever but would struggle to keep launch and spin under control.

 

In utilizing increasingly stronger and advanced materials and construction techniques these companies are trying to push closer and closer towards the goal of either maximum launch and spin reduction without feeling like the rebar, or maximum smoothness and feel without being an uncontrollable wet noodle. To this end they not only monkey with the advanced materials but also in the shaft's bend profile. Its no coincidence that many of the classic low/low shafts have softer butt sections as this helps reduce the otherwise "boardy" feel that comes from having stout tip and mid sections and the smoother shafts tend to have stiffer butt sections since much of their feel normally comes from the softer mid sections.

 

Ultimately what matters though is whether or not a feel, bend profile, and weight work for you. Someone could get better results out of a 10+ year old shaft if it fit their swing better.

Reviving this thread. Any thoughts on a modern Whiteboard profile, whether by Mitsubishi or another manufacturer? I believe it's tip stiff, butt soft?

Tensei Pro White is pretty close. If you're looking for similar profile in CB shaft Pro Orange is an absolute beast.

Tensei Pro White for sure. But Aldila rogue white 130 msi has been getting a ton of buzz as well. Pro White is more classic whiteboard, but Diamana DF is also very good. Is a bit firmer in the butt section than typical whiteboard profile, but keeps the launch characteristics of whiteboard while blending in a little bit if a blue board type feel. Solid shaft and feels great, Pro White will spin less though.
