Good golf nets for the backyard (or better alternatives)

Due to the current restrictions due to coronavirus my practice regimen is severely limited. I've got room for a hitting net in my yard and I'm looking for good options for that, or suggestions for a better way to practice than hitting balls into a net.

Yeah I’m also looking for the same. My backyard is stone so I need something that will also help catch the balls after they go into the net

Funny enough my golf spy is about to do a test on this. I bought the Rukket off eBay for $130. And I have a mat coming from Costco a Fiberbuilt Golf Practice Station $200 on sale for a couple more days.

I bought a Rukket Pro last year and love it. Good design and well made, does what it's supposed to. Only issue was some fading on hem and some of the stitching where it attaches to the base started to tear. After contacting the company they overnighted me a completely new one.

Great to hear about the Rukket Pro. Mine should be here any day. I got my Country Club Elite 5x5 mat yesterday. Very nice. I've been meaning to do this since buying this house two years ago. I hope I don't really need it urgently. Our course is still open since outdoor activity is allowed.

Also have the rukket and love it. A couple of the elastic straps ripped on the first interior net that came with it and the company sent a new replacement interior net and all is good. Have had it for 6 years now.

 

Only complaint is the stakes that come with it are kinda sub par but part of that is there is a lot if rocks under our soil and they get bent easily. Falls over a lot on windy days but now I got some better deeper plastic landscape stake s and some rope, less than 10 bucks and should be much better.

I need one for windy days, or because it's always windy, might be the only golf we get. I might put up post in the ground any ideas on good netting, TIM

I've had a Net Return for almostt ten years now and it still looks about the same as the day I got it.

Not cheap but I think it's by far the best quality net on the market and it's not even close.

I'd highly recommend you checkout their website to see if it's worth it for you.

I ordered a mat but no net as of yes. I see people hitting into old sheets and comforters which I may try before ordering a net. I have an old clothes line in the backyard I can hang them from and think I can hang one in the opening of my garage door when opened.

Not backyard, but revamped my indoor hitting area. Swing nets are like insurance and PPE, better to have more than you need than need more than you have.

i just started using a moving blanket to hit almost golf balls into. Seems to work fine so far.

Nice setup. Doesn’t look like you have a simulator, are you, or anyone with a net reading this, doing anything to monitor strike or flight? (Foot spray for impact, vertical line on the impact net for start line, etc)

 

One of the coolest thing I’ve seen about the net return is that it can apparently tell you shot shape based on how the ball rolls back to you. Not sure if there’s is a way to do this with different net?

I am thinking of making one - currently have a net and frame (bought for£5 from charity shop) but this for a more open space. So plan to build sides and a top. Planning to order some netting to form sides and roof but what is best to hit into.... Netting or a strong sheet?

Use some archery netting with a piece of canvas hanging down the middle....the archery netting is pretty much bullet proof...well arrow proof for sure....that stuff last forever.

Home Depot PVC 1" pipe - $20.00. Ties or shower rings to hold net - $5.00. Walmart net $20. You'll be swinging in no time.

If I ever run across you one day, I owe you a drink. I tried to find the Rukket Pro's that everyone talked about and they were sold out everywhere I tried. I wish I were handy enough to create my own the way some of the guys in here do, but I'm not. The really cheap ones that I've used in the past were flimsy and didn't last very long. I saw your post, did some more confirmation with a couple of Pro's who are friends, and then made the Net Return purchase. WOW! So sturdy. So easy to put together or take apart with the color coding system. Much heavier duty net than anything I've seen on these kinds of setups. Great coverage area -- not to tall to fit into the garage but yet wide enough to give you confidence an errant shot isn't gonna hit my house or anything else. No doubt, these are definitely on the expensive side but this thing is built to last a long time not just one summer.

One thing I've kind of figured out over the years is in most cases you really do get what you pay for and "just as good as" seldom is.
