Callaway custom order complaint...ridiculous (UPDATE: Harry stepped up and resolved!!)

Glad you got it sorted out.

We also have to give Harry props. Not often do you see a big head of a major corporation dealing with the end purchaser/user and taking the time to make things right.

Well done.

I agree with you 100% Ouzo hence me telling folks how he stepped up, but didn't want to be specific as to exactly how, because that is not fair to Harry, and would open gated to others expecting things. I made it very clear to Harry from the beginning I wanted no special treatment... Just what I ordered..... I got special treatment.... Probably not just because of the driver but the other two instances.

Also, J13 touched on the s+s not being available, whi h I knew... But the rep told me my problem that ordered the utility and the irons that wouldn't be a problem.... Obviously it was... But got resolved...

I dont want anyone talking this as a me bashing callaway... I'm clearly a loyal patron to them... This was more to seek feedback for how others would feel, and in some respects, to ensure that Callaway was aware of a shortcoming regarding orders from one particular customer... Me..

Like I said, Harry went above and beyond.... And I never didn't get what I wanted or needed.

  • 2 weeks later...

I actually read this thread only a few days before I placed an order for some MD2 wedges. They arrived today and the 56* looked to be fine but the 60* had the wrong shaft installed. Instead of PX 6.0 like I requested, I received one with PX 95 flighted installed. Hopefully the shop that I ordered them from will be able to rectify the situation.

I really like Callaway products. I understand that mistakes happen, and I'm confident this can be fixed, but I wanted to let people know about this, as it has seemed to happen to multiple members within this community

I ordered a couple MD2 Wedges and one had the grip logo up and the other had the logo down. Not a big deal but definitely annoying.

I'm on my 3rd order for my Apex Pro Irons (5-PW).
- 1st order had three issues, nick on the hosel of the 6 iron, incorrect grip on the 5-9 irons, and 7 iron length appeared off.
- 2nd order, still had the wrong grips. For fear of having the Project X PXi logos getting damaged from regripping at my local shop, I asked they send another set.

Waiting for the 3rd set to arrive. Now that I ruptured my achilles tendon, it doesn't matter when they get here.

Stuff happens and Callaway has always stepped up to make it right. I agree they need their club builders to go over the basics. Consistency is key.

Great to hear this got resolved for you, but I have to say.....while Harry and their customer service stepped up, the deliverable track record is unacceptable. I have a set of customs coming tomorrow (after an extra week of delayed disappointment) and they better be right or they're going back for a refund. I will not screw around with such incompetence. This is not rocket science. I have to earn my customer's trust every day (and so do most of you). I could lose everything if I performed and delivered like what's been illustrated here. There is too much competition and too many good brands with outstanding equipment currently available to deal with this.

Took 2 weeks but everything was finally resolved. The swingweight though was off 2 pts from what I requested on my replacement, which isn't a big deal cause I don't mind the lead tape, but I know some people do.

This doesn't seem to be isolated incidents though. Callaway has some good momentum lately, and they need to figure their stuff out on these Custom orders

Wow that's a bunch of mess ups. One thing to consider is that the 70 ZT version is not an option on the regular menu for shafts from Callaway. The 60 is and the 70 Zeta but not the 70Zeta Tour. So they are going out of their way to special order this for you as an off menu item which not may OEM's will do. I can see how this got mixed up at the customer service level. But they should have called you to confirm what you were looking for or at least tell you it's not an option.

Glad everything worked out in the long run.

I only posted this because I think K callaway ans folks needed to know of these issues.... I just got a 64 special order with s400,+ 1/2, GP DDMC grip, and it too came in spot on.

Harry ans callaway took care of me in the end, so all my stuff is correct now anyways... Just took a little while ans a few times to get it right... I think Harry was glad to know this was going on.... He should be, so it gets fixed. Believe me, I'd have my h rather ordered all the things I've ordered ans had them come in correct.

When you move your custom department to Mexico to save money and use cheap labor this is what happens.
[/quote]

Because the guy in the US making peanuts and hates his job cares more than the guy in Mexico who makes peanuts and hates his job ... Right? :)

They already used cheap labor, it just got cheaper in Mexico. The level of employee skills didn't change one bit.

I just ordered a really complex set up from driver to irons and they all came spot on.

3 wood
Hybrid
5-7 apex
8-pw pros.

I'm talking like really complex lol. Like measurements, SW lofts and lies.

I also had an issue where they somehow messed up putting in recoil 95 shafts in Apex heads, 5 iron was correct, 6-9 appeared to be hardstepped and PW was a ? on what was in there. Anyway, went through CS and I received the clubs this past week and they were correct. When the logo alignments are all out of whack on the shafts, it might be a clue that there is a problem.
