***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION***

Update 8/14 - ***Migration work continues. Estimate Go Live to new board 8/17***

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

    Love the headcover tag. Brilliant incorporation of your two interests. I like your use of dots on your golf ball as well. Thanks for sharing.

    I work a side job for them which affords me access to their gear at a healthy discount, so they do have a leg up when it comes to gear in my bag at the moment. That being said, I wouldn't play their stuff if I felt like something else would serve me demonstrably better. They're not paying me to play it, after all, and nor will they be any time soon.<br />
    <br />
    Even if all other things were equal I'm not sure how different the set-up would look. Believe me when I say that I have test driven everything competing OEM's have to offer. Every club in the bag had to earn its way in there.

    So last year it wasn't cool to have TMAG in play; is it at least a little bit acceptable this year?<br />

    The demo day I was supposed to work this morning canceled at the last minute, so I was actually able to (wait for it) PLAY GOLF TODAY! Harumph, what a concept!<br />
    <br />
    First proper 18 hole round with the new sticks and was very impressed with everything, including the 38" Ghost Spider Mallet 72 that I pulled from the demo stash. Shot a very low-stress 73, which was great considering I hadn't played in weeks. Some other thougts that stuck out:<br />
    <br />
    1. The TP CB long irons are phenomenal.<br />
    2. SLDR 2H is a monster.<br />
    3. The ATV wedges just don't have the bite they once did. Can't wait for the replacements to get here!

    After putting so well with the Spider Mallet yesterday, I've decided my next putter is going to be counter-balanced as well. If it works out half as well as I think it might, the TMAG monopoly will be broken. Here's a not-so-subtle clue...<br />

    The shaft experimentation continues with the arrival of more boxes this week. UST Elements Chrome 7F5T for the driver on Monday and a Fubuki K 80X for the 3W on Tuesday... <img src='http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/butcher.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':butcher:' />

    I finally carved out some time to set up the FlightScope for myself and get some #'s off of the driver, 3W, and 2H today. The results were pretty good, all things considered.<br />
    <br />
    SLDR 460 11* (some balls w/ D+ 62X and some with Chrome 7F5T)<br />
    Avg. ball speed 167<br />
    Avg. Smash Factor 1.47 (range balls of varying quality, and of course swing variables but I tossed out the worst swings)<br />
    Avg. launch angle 13*<br />
    Avg. spin rate 2400<br />
    <br />
    Balls hit with the Chrome launched about 1* higher, 2 mph faster, and spin was nearly identical, and dispersion was just slightly better. Early returns say Chome is legit. Found one Pro V1X in decent shape in the bucket and thankfully put a good swing on it with the Chrome for these numbers:<br />
    <br />
    Speed 171<br />
    Smash 1.51<br />
    Launch 14*<br />
    Spin 2100<br />
    <br />
    SLDR 15* 3W (some balls w/ D+ 72X and some with Fubuki K 80X) from the deck<br />
    Avg. ball speed 154<br />
    Avg. Smash Factor 1.46 (saw 1.50 on one swing, though, must have been a hot ball <img src='http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/golfer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':golfer:' /> )<br />
    Avg. launch 12*<br />
    Avg. Spin 2600<br />
    <br />
    Fubuki K 80X launched noticeably higher with the same spin, and I just liked the feel and slightly heavier weight. Like Chrome, I need to get it out on course to make a final decision but this was a great start.<br />
    <br />
    SLDR 17* 2H with Kuro Kage Black 80X from the deck<br />
    Avg. ball speed 142<br />
    Avg. Smash Factor 1.42 (not bad for a hybrid)<br />
    Avg. launch angle 15*<br />
    Avg. spin rate 3200<br />
    <br />
    The distance numbers I was seeing were spot on with what I saw on the course last Saturday. When pured, it has another gear you'd more readily expect from a fairway wood.<br />
    <br />
    That's all I've got for today. Sorry I don't have the screen captures; I'm a bit of a knuckle dragger when it comes to being tech savvy. <img src='http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smilie_tm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':smilie_tm:' />

    So far, my experiment with a counter-balanced putter is a smashing success. It's going straight in the bag.

    Thanks Zach, was fun to put together and really does the job. Love the counter-balanced concept of teh Spider line, but have never cared for the feel of TM's surlyn inserts. This proved to be a great work-around for that.
