Fake Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound Grips

Recommended Posts

I do have the product in hand. I can't compare the stickers because they were already taken off when I had the grips installed.

But they don't smell funny, and the Golf Pride lettering looks good, the end caps are concave, etc. All signs they are real.

Goddam Chinese bastards they counterfeit everything now. Whats really crazy about all this, is the Chinese made products are being faked by the Chinese. If that makes any sense?

Going by those two factors, you should be good.

I just got mine in the mail the other day and I know they are fake from reading these threads after I received them. My question is, is there that big of a difference to warrant opening a claim? I had Sharpros on my old clubs that I had and I know the debate rages on about whether there is a difference or not, but Im hesitant to put them on my clubs. If they play like the sharpros then I will be ok with it. Any thoughts?
. Im in agreement with you. Looking at the pictures, if you were not to tell somebody and placed them on their clubs, they probably would not know. With the prices of gp mc's if you can score a deal on 14 of them so to each his own. But buyer beware i guess

You'd have no idea unless you played NDMC's before. When I ordered mine I had never used NDMC's before. But after going in-store and feeling the difference there's a huge difference in the level of grip that the NDMC's actually have.

The guy has sold 7 other sets with no issue.....my guess is these were a store closing or something. There is no way to tell from the pics presented....if you are concerned ask for better pics and then post. Otherwise, at some point you have to trust a person with 300+ perfect deals.

Fake. Dead giveaway is price.

$5.77 per grip (less than wholesale cost as is)
Less say 13% Paypal and eBay fees
Less postage at $10 or so

For this seller to just break even, nevermind make a profit, he/she has to have got these grips for $4.25 each. And I stress, that is the break even point.

100% fake, stay away.

Chances are that none of those 7 people even know that counterfeit grips exist.

That guy who is selling those grips you were asking about, for real cheap.

Well I contact him via ebay, this the correspondence. He's claiming he got them from a local guy for cheap. Ya right.

Dear *happy***dad*,

First of all, if they were authentic, there's no way you can make a profit by selling them that cheap.

Second thing is, Golf Pride rep told me they looked at the photos, and the lettering is off. The ends should be concave, those one's don't appear to have the concave indentation shape on the ends.

Smell? Do they smell funny like sulfer? If so, thats a dead give away.

Who ever you bought them from, they sold you fake grips.

Well I think they are real. See this new corresspondance. He got them from a manager at a retail store.

No funny smell, concave ends. And the UPC numbers check out also. Whooooops, but the guy should be selling them for a higher price though.

Dear motleymichael1,

If you mean like beveled on the ends or rolled than these are very slightly beveled and I looked up the upc number on google which is 760151300502 and here is the copy paste from the upc database page which mine is the top number

Item Record

UPC-A 760151300502

EAN/UCC-13 0760151300502

Description Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound

Issuing Country United States

Last Modified 24 Nov 2011, 7:35 AM

Pending Requests 0

Full story is my buddy works at a sporting store as a manager and said he gets store price. If they are real and ebay thinks they are real than I will be banned. Same thing happened to me about a scotty cameron putter because i sold it to cheap. Thank You for your insite.

Dear *happy***dad*,

The concave on the ends. On the fake ones, the end is flat. On the real ones, they are indented very slightly.

If they smell like rubber though, they might be real.

I suggest calling Golf Pride, and giving them the description of them, and giving them the numbers on the stickers on the plastic. Thats probably the only sure way to confirm without sending them into Golf Pride for inspection.

Are you saying you only make $5-$7 profit for every single grip? Or are you talking about the entire 13 grips?

Dear motleymichael1,

First I wan't to make sure you know I am trying to educated and nothing else. Before I can accuse my supplier I have to know. I make $5-$7 per sale after fees. They smell like rubber, no funny smell at all and I will look at the lettering but can you explain the concave a little more to me please.

Yes they real. You should be ok buying them.
They are definitely NOT real grips. Forget about the price for a moment, have a look at the visual differences which are noted in both this thread and numerous others. Please don't be sucked in by this scammer.

When I get time today (it's 8:30am here) I'll do up a visual comparison between these counterfeit grips and a genuine one. In the meantime all you have to do is look at the G in Golf Pride, completely different font on the dodgy grips.

Okay the ones with my awesome circles drawn on it are the fakes from the auction :P The others are legit, from the following auction - http://www.ebay.com....=item43ccac136f

Blue ring - Notice that on the fakes that the cord is generally in one continuous line. Real NDMC's have smaller sections of cord that are offset from each other, refer to real pic.

Red ring - The middle alignment mark has a line adjacent to it on either side. On the fakes in this case all 3 lines are perfectly lined up with each other, notice that on the real NDMC's that the 2 outside lines are positioned quite noticeably towards the tapered end of the grip.

Pink ring - On the black rings in the white section, the white blotches on the fakes are just that, blotches. The real NDMC's have quite a defined 'pin ***** pattern'.

Yellow ring - As mentioned above, the G is the wrong font! The G on the real grips has a tail but it is totally absent on the fakes. Not to mention the rest of the paintfill (or whatever you call it on grips) is sloppy and the other letters are wrong as well, it's just that the G is the most obvious.

There are other differences as well but I don't think I need to go into any more detail. 100% fake.

 • 2 weeks later...

Well, I learned my lesson. I too - bought a set of 13 NDMC's off ebay about 2 weeks ago ($90/shipped) and got them in the mail yesterday. Very strong smell, and immediately I realized mine don't even have the "cord" material on the top part of the grip!! I've attached some photos.

Just like others have said on this thread (wish I would have read it before I bought) avoid buying grips from eBay. Support your local golf shops. I certainly will from now on!

They look good to me. I don't have the white butt end, but I have the black and white Golf Pride end and mine look the same.
Of course mine don't smell so idk about that part.
