It just baffles me why people from WRX still buy grips off eBay from unknown sellers. Is it worth the risk to save so little per grip?

I'm late to this party. I've already ordered some grips and had a decent level of trust due to sellers feedback and reviews of the item. I even messaged a buyer who wrote a review and asked about shipping times.

I don't want fake crap but at the end of the day these are just grips. How does these FEEL compared to a real one? At the end of the day if it's similar I'll never care and just be more aware next time.

Can anyone comment after using these knock offs?

Thinner, twists in your hands, grip features inconsistent which lead to comfort issues with me. Ill never buy NDMC grips on ebay again. Not worth 1/4 of the price in my opinion.

This is rampant on Ebay now... there are a few sellers selling supposed NDMC's for as low as 27 bucks shipped for 10 grips, any color. Just for fun, I contacted 2 of the sellers with grips for under $27 shipped and asked about authenticity and neither responded. No one in this hobby would expect to get real Golf Pride grips, especially ones that retail for $10 or so each, for less than $3, from China or not. I didn't bite, but I think alot of people do...I may be a 12 HDCP, but I don't want to use grips with varying weights, thickness, or feel.

Some of these Chinese sellers list all items as private, so if they do get back feedback or questions regarding authenticity in the feedback, you cannot tell what the sale was for originally.... pretty sneaky. I don't think all sellers are doign this, but some sell for 6-8 per grip shipped, even though they are fake...when for 2-3 dollars more, you can have the real item.

My only question from the entire thread is that most of the barcodes I have seen say "made in Taiwan" or "Made in China"... do the real ones say "Made in the USA" ? Sorry if I missed this along the way in the thread, but I kind of think that they actually may be made in Taiwan, but under much tighter tolerances than the counterfeit versions. I really don't mind paying $10 for a well made grip, and the NDMCs last at least 2 seasons for me (probably longer), playing 6-7 months of the year, 1 range visit per week and 1 18 hole round.

One of the guys I golf with on a weekly basis has a set of fake NDMC's, I know because he got them off ebay, I showed him the differences, he said he didn't care and to put them on so I installed them. All the weights were within a gram or two of each other. He's had them on his clubs for over a year and hasn't had any issues. They're rubber and provide grip and aren't wearing in any funny pattern/manner.

Not for me, but they work for him.

I've bought fakes from eBay and Ali a handful of times and never had and playability or excess wear issues with them. My backups have the last of my stash of fakes on them and I wouldn't hesitate to game them. They're worth $3 a grip for what they are if you prefer the style. That said, there are plenty of good deals, even for split cord, in the $3/grip range... DTG has Lamkin UTx in a wide range of color and even Tour Taper, so there's not as much incentive to knowingly go with fakes as there might have been a few years ago. If Sharpro hadn't discontinued their MCC I probably never would have tried the fakes in the first place.

Just bought 13 MC grips for $80 on eBay for the first time, and sure enough my local golf store worker spots them as a fake immediately. The guy has over 400 feedback all 100% and is located in the US, not China, so I figured they would be good. Still threw two of them on my woods but now hesitant to put them on my irons. I didn’t plan on sending them back or contact the guy Bc I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle. Would u guys still game them? I’m very annoyed lol.

I fell for the GP MCC Ebay Scam a few years ago and when I sent the seller a message stating I know they are fake he refunded my cash in full and closed his Ebay account. I contacted Golf Pride and they pretty much seemed disinterested so I chucked them in the garbage. I had a guy at my club ask me to re-grip his clubs and sure enough he shows up with counterfeit MCC grips. I told him they were fakes and he said just put them on. He's still playing them :swoon:

Here are some pics of the ones I got off the bay. Don’t know if it mattered but they arrived kind of lightly adhered together in a zig zag pattern. Might be why the pic of the side of the butt end looks like that not sure. Comparing them to woods That have legit ones on them, the sides seem to be fraying mildly in places despite being just put on and never gamed. Very subtle but I see it. Do they look counterfeit? If so, as I said, I already threw two of them on my woods. Should I still be contacting the seller?

Can anyone please confirm that these do in fact look counterfeit? Don’t want to contact the seller until I am confident they are.

actually i think they're real. the butt end is obviously tampered with from being removed but they're not the obvious flaring of the rubber as the fakes have. the butt end font is also on par with the real ones.
