I did. Chrome was the first choice but I didn't get it for some reason. Kind of disappointed, but the MK has felt great so far.

first you get the shaft on the trip, then they don't even send you the right shaft? (no pun intended)
weak Nike, WEAK
guarantee this wouldn't have happened for the guys who got invited back
sorry, just feeling bitter for you .... ;)

what are your thoughts on the Pro driver after the first sesh on the Monitor?
do you feel like the launch could be higher or is that where you prefer it?

Thanks for the words. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get the Chrome since it was the first choice, but I have no ill feelings toward Nike. Technically, they didn't have to send me a driver. So I'm thankful I got one. Plus, I can now fund a fwy or hyb to match. :) And the MK has felt really good so far.

I'm putting together my first thoughts between the two drivers and it will be up soon with some simulator numbers. On launch...I would probably benefit from the Speed driver due to its higher ball flight, but the Pro looks too good and I've been playing the CT 2.0 for awhile and have gotten used to the profile. I typically hit the ball a few degrees higher on course for some reason, so I'm not going to worry about the low simulator launch until I try it outside. Raining right now, so my attempted range session has been delayed.

Gonna be working on this at various points. Pics and text will be added.

A little background info on my driver situation. I bought the Covert 1.0 Performance with the KK Silver when it came out to replace the VR Tour which I had been playing for about four years. I soon after installed a Diamana Ahina 70, which was the combo that I took on the first OvenWrx trip. The guys/gals at Nike fixed several combos for me to hit, but nothing beat the CP Ahina combo (I don't want to spend too much time here cause it is in detail in the Oven #1 trip thread). I played that combo until I bought the Covert Tour 2.0 driver and later won the UST Elements Chrome shaft (another awesome GolfWRX/UST Mamiya giveaway). Although not exactly what I really needed (picked too stiff a shaft flex), I've stuck with the CT 2 Chrome combo because I kept it in play. On days when everything came together (timing...dropping the club just right...etc), the driver was great, but it had it's flaws. It's SO HEAVY. Compared to some of the other drivers I've tried over the past year (X2 Hot Pro, G30, BB14, BioCell), the CT 2.0 felt like a sledgehammer. The only driver that I felt was similar in weight was the SLDR (which was an absolute bomb for me...no matter the loft I couldn't keep it airborne). Only on my best days did I ever hit the driver high enough. Even at 11.5, most days the driver was launching too low with very low spin. During the Bridgestone ball fitting we hosted at my store, my launch was 10.1 with 1553 spin on my best shot. The fitter just looked at me like I was crazy for playing the combo. I tried some different shafts, but nothing felt or kept it in play like the Chrome.

Then the excitement/heartbreak of the OverWRX 2 trip was announced. The heartbreak of not going back to Nike Golfer Heaven on Earth, but the excitement of getting a new driver from the Oven (which technically didn't happen...the driver shipped from Memphis..oh well). I choose to go with the Vapor Pro with the same Elements Chrome 6F5T. When it didn't show...and didn't show...and still didn't show...I began to think about that shaft option. I thought about emailing Nike (through the mods from the trip) and requesting a shaft change to the 6F4T. I figured dropping down a flex would help with the launch and spin. But I kept telling myself it was too late and I didn't really want to bother anyone. Then I received an email from Nike about confusion on my shaft selection. I had forgot to add Chrome to my shaft choice. I sent over Elements 6F5T. They thought I might have been referring to the MK shaft. My chance to change shafts had arrived. I requested the weaker Chrome shaft, but also threw out the options of the AD-DI6 or the mentioned MK shaft. All looked like they would work well. The rest of this has already been talked about. The driver showed with the MK 6 Stiff shaft.

Now on to the review/comparison.

Visual: I think Nike has done a great job with the color scheme on the Vapor line. I liked the red on the Covert 1.0 line a lot. The red on the 2.0 line was ok, but not as appealing to me as the original line. IMO, the new black that fades to the charcoal color at the back with the Volt swoosh looks really solid. Plus, there isn't an alignment aid right above the face. I HATE ALIGNMENT AIDS. I'm not a fan of the triangle on the Titleist drivers, the Chevron on most Callaways, the "Covert" on the first line, or the simple 2.0 on last years clubs. The Vapor is blank right there and I love it. I know some guys have complained about the Swoosh, but like the White Swoosh, the Volt Swoosh to me almost becomes invisible when I'm swinging the driver.

Feel: I'm giving the nod on feel to the Vapor Pro. It is only 5 grams lighter in weight, but it feels much lighter when actually swinging the club. I've mentioned it above, the CT 2.0 felt like swinging a hammer. The Vapor is so much better. The CT 2.0 isn't that bad early in the round, but I hit driver a lot, and the weight becomes a burden late in the round. I don't think this will be much of a problem with the Vapor.

Sound: Sound to me is hard to discuss. I hate to be bland and say the Vapor Pro sounds better, but it does to me. I can't really explain this very well. "Solid" is the best word I can come up with.

Specs for the comparison:
Covert Tour 2.0
Loft: 11.5
Face Angle: Neutral
Shaft: Elements Chrome 6F5T
Length: 45

DAY 1
This is one session late in the day yesterday. I missed two drives with the Covert...really almost complete whiffs. An earlier in the day session had numbers that were closer between the two models, but a customer came in and I didn't get the screen pic.

I think the numbers pictured are pretty indicative of what I'm seeing. The Vapor is producing slightly faster ball speeds on most shots. I hit probably fifty drives between the two clubs. The longest with the Vapor Pro was 291. The longest with the CT 2.0 was 288. The highest two ball speeds with each driver were within a mph of one another.

DAY 2
Results from today's session.

The Vapor is proving to be longer over the long haul and its a big difference in ball speeds.

Next up: outside range session and then to swap the shafts to compare performances.

Day 3 of testing:

Got on the range for the first time.

As I posted in the Nike driver thread...bye bye CT 2.0. The Vapor is in the bag. I spent about an hour hitting range balls today...probably forty minutes of it with driver. I really wanted to put the drivers to the test. After a few minutes of loosening up with irons, I started with the CT 2.0. I was seeing my normal results with it. It tends to be a low-mid launch that tends to slide right (misses are way right).

Now the fun. Breaking in the Vapor Pro. The first ball was a little low on the club face, but dead straight. The next two were very similar in launch to the CT, but without the slide right. Then I bombed a couple. Very high launch and either straight or just a little draw.

I started moving back and forth between the two clubs. The CT is much lower launch and way more fade biased. It is almost impossible for me to turn over. Visually it was hard to tell, but I'd guess the Vapor was launching 15% higher than the CT 2.0. That's a big difference for me, especially since they were within one or two degrees of each other in the simulator.

At the end, I felt 100% confident with the VP. I could hit it high or low, left or right. It's a little harder to hit the fade than the CT, but that's okay. My course has a lot of draw favored tee shots. I think most of the other courses in my area that I play do as well. It'll be interesting to see if I can continue with that ball flight once on course.

Pic of the face during the session.

Fairly consistent.

Side note on irons: I reshafted my 7 and 5 irons with standard DGS300s. The difference in feel...WOW. The irons feel much more stable. And the best part is that I didn't see any noticeable difference in launch or distance. Other irons will be heading to surgery tomorrow.

Not yet. It's weird. The label was created for shipment on 1/31, but it's still sitting there not moving. I don't think UPS has picked up the box yet. I'm a two day ship time from Memphis. It should have been grabbed Mon or Tues for Wed or Thurs delivery.

Nice, That's some low spin. You mean you're not getting 5,000 rpm like everyone else? My Flex is really low spin too.

Length: 45
Head Weight: 200 grams
Swingweight: D5

Vapor Pro
Loft: 11.5
Face Angle: Neutral
Shaft: Attas Elements MK 6 S
Length: 45
Head Weight: 195 grams
Swingweight: D3

All shots have been hit with the RZN Black golf ball.

DAY 1
This is one session late in the day yesterday.

I can barely get 5000 spin if I add three of my shots together. Lol.

I wanted to try the Flex, but I wasn't sure if I could get it airborne.

I got in the simulator yesterday to hit the Vapor Pro some more. I made the mistake of putting the Elements Chrome in the Pro. I like the Attas MK, but now I'm even more frustrated at not getting the 6F4T in my driver. The Chrome feels so good. The 6F5T felt a little heavier in the driver than the MK. The 6F5T is definitely to stiff for me. The launch angle was too low, although I did hit a few long drives with it. It was getting mostly roll though. I did get one that carried 260 and ended up in the 290s, but I had to go at it hard. To hard to feel like I could do it all through a round (unless I really start hitting the gym).

This is a quick review while sitting in the drs office.

Thanks Tai. I'm impressed with the driver. I just picked up the hybrid and haven't hit it except for two or three swings in my simulator.

I took some time the other day in the simulator to really see the difference between my VR Ltd 3 wood and the Vapor Flex 3 wood. I like the size of my VR Ltd better, but the Flex is growing on me. I started by hitting some balls to warm up and then hit five shots each off a small tee.

THE NUMBERS:

VR TLD:
Total avg: 248
Carry avg: 237
Ball speed: 146.5
Launch: 10.1
Spin: 4440

Best: 254--148.5

FLEX (14 N)
Total avg: 262
Carry avg: 241
Ball Speed: 147.9
Launch: 8.1
Spin: 3472

Best: 271--148.9

On virtually every shot, the Flex was at a much lower launch. I'm not really sure why it was launching that low. It has the stock Blue S+ 70 Stiff. The VR Ltd still has the Ahina 70 Stiff. Shaft wise, I'd think the Flex should be going higher. The club is lighter overall as well.

I don't have all the numbers, but I did the same test off the deck. The Flex was longer in that session as well. I got one out in the 270 range with the Flex. The VR ltd couldn't come close to that in sim play.

Next will be to get them on the course. Two weeks ago I got the VR Ltd pin high off the deck from around 255. I want to find time to head back to that spot and drop a few with the Flex. Get some true on course comparisons. I might get out this Saturday. If so, the Flex demo is heading with me.

Isn't the VR LTD 15 and you set your Vapor at 14?
Yes. The VR is 15. I had the demo Flex set at 15, but someone hit it before I got to start the test. They changed it to 14. I didn't notice the change until after I was finished (had to jump in quick between customers). When I get it to the course, I'll adjust it back to 15 to compare.
