DG Tour Issue

Hey guys,

 

So I fairly recently picked up the new vokeys 56M and 60K with DG Tour Issue S400 shafts and I'm slightly disappointed with the shafts. This is my first time playing anything DG in quite some time.....been playing PX in my wedges for some time now. I don't mind the shaft in the LW, but the SW seems to spin far too much. I suppose I can see why the pros love them on fast hard courses, but not sure I'm a fan. Anyone else find this? Think I may reshaft the SW to PX. Curious what others experience is with the DG TI shafts in the wedges? Thank you.

I play the DGTI S400 in my wedges because they spin more. Don't we usually want more spin from our wedges?

Certainly don't disagree......but I've lost a full club distance out of the fairway with the SW. I can certainly adjust....

You shouldn't be expecting miracles. Tour issue just means more of a weight tolerance. If you're spinning it too much maybe move to x100

+1 on move to x100......I had same issue with s400..too much spin...huge distance loss..moved to x100 plenty of hold on the greens but flatter more consistant trajectory and distance back to normal

You couldn't have more different shafts in PX vs DG, IMO. Going from a PX to a DG is very, very different. DG's will spin a lot more, which is why I have the S400's in my wedges, for more spin.

One club variation is not because of the shafts. Something else wrong.

Might be the shafts' weight difference more than anything. DG shafts and PX shafts aren't that far off from one another in the launch and spin department. But the weight should be noticeable between the two.

Vokey advocates going softer in the shafts in the lob and SW, even to guys on tour. Most pro's are in x100s in their irons and he suggests even going down to s200 in order to be able to feel the heads better. Most SW and LW shots are not full shots. These are scoring clubs around the greens and it's far more important that you be able to feel and finesse them. Maybe the answer lies in 52, 54 wedges and ability to hit shots with them and gearing down with 3/4 swings instead of full SW.

No. I don't care how different the grinds are, there is no way that will affect the shot to the tune of 1 club difference in distance. Either the loft is off, or it's a poor strike.

[/quote] Agreed but the poor strike may be caused by a different grind that doesn't fit the swing

I'm a 1 handicap, so seems unlikely to be a poor strike. I will get the lofts checked though.

I play 6.0 in my irons and 5.5 in my 54 and 58 spin is perfect and those shafts are deadly accurate
