Until I hit the Covert it always surprises me to see Tiger play the fairway woods. Cavity back woods, red on top, from a guy who played some of the purest looking fairway woods around for years from bore thru PTs to the LTD. Well, having played and bagged the Covert I get it. I was wondering if he plays the 1.0 version, or the proto version that is a 2.0 that looks like a 1.0 ala Rory?

 

I believe it is the proto that is basically what they used to make the 2.0 this year. The "1.0" driver that he played last year was basically the 2.0 only without the added "stabilizing" section that is white in the 2.0. Personally I love all the Covert woods, though I still play the 1.0 tour fairway, with the Fuji 8.2 I get a pretty darn good ball flight which makes it hard to switch.

i have the Covert Performance 1.0 tour issue woods that Tiger, Rory, and most if the other guys have. They are much different from the standard Covert Performance 1.0 and 2.0 heads. Shape is more similar to the Vr Pros, size comparable to Covert 1.0. Flight is similar to Vr Pro, but a smudge easier to hit off the deck, and mor forgiving

Interesting that the 8 iron shaft clearly has glue residue where the standard DG label has been peeled off. Should be ample evidence that the TI versions are nothing more than weight sorted (as TT has always claimed) and aren't spined or have any fairy dust as some might have you believe.

Anyone have more accurate information?

What i want to say is - modern 8irons have smth like 35/36/37 of loft, compared to tigers 40.5 - and most people dont carry a 8iron 160yds+

I am wondering what picture you are seeing with this...the labels are never put on the iron shafts when they are built. When a clubbuilder makes a club the iron shafts do not come with the stickers put on in most cases, the builder can then decide to put them on. This is the way my irons were built, I also have TT DG shafts and they never had the label on them.

The shafts they use out on Tour all have the labels on them, as True temper wants to get camera time (TV & GolfWRX.com). If a player doesn't want the labels, they will be heated/peeled off, in most cases.
