I have finally done what I promised I would never do! I have succumbed to peer pressure and bought myself one of these new fangled super sized woods!20240418_201911.jpg.f8618b4a8ab5084e89354564d2534f0f.jpg20240418_201731.jpg.ec1373069d656d1c18af42b80bbc651e.jpg20240418_201701.jpg.7c1eae144f0ed065f863502437df271c.jpg20240418_201506.jpg.d6a67264e4986f76b395d7d73f3de3b2.jpg20240418_201440.jpg.9d34396879aa166531666796043ef0ff.jpg

Someone at my club told me they make woods out of metal now but I don't believe him.

If they do, it will never catch on! 🤣

Found this Spalding Robert T Jones Jr 1 iron this weekend & cleaned it up, it's already been reshafted & regripped....have only a guess at the shaft (have similar color & "tip stiff' on an Olimar 18* wood - UST ProForce 65 Gold ). I like Karma grips.
Should be fun to actually use....when I finally get cleared

Those are my GOAT shafts. Loved them when I was able to swing them. I still have an R flex one soft tipped in my 7 wood. I have had that shaft in that club for 15 years now ever since the stock one broke off at the head

I have one of those drivers too!

I always wondered if those inserts were old stock from 1973.

Good day thrifting. First stop I picked up a ginty, Hogan 7 wood, Wilson 64° lob, and a Spalding tpm 2 putter total $12. Stop number two found a set of Wilson X31 irons and woods for $10. Have cleaned up a few, so far so good!

That is a well spent $10--- That putter alone is worth that and I will tell you those Wilson Harmonized wedges perform good too. Really looks like a fun set especially for $10 and a little elbow grease to play around with

Already have a lot of staff sets, 62,67,71,and 84. So I'm looking forward to seeing how the x31 set stacks up.

So grabbed three very lightly used clubs today, I paid five dollars for them. So they got me wondering about the ping shafts, never figured out how to tell what's what with their shaft bands. Does anyone know for sure how to i.d. their shafts?

No 1 iron left behind, one of our motto’s. The PING driver black dot means 12 degrees of loft and almost positive that’s a stiff flex shaft. I’ll look when I get home. I have the same driver and about to play it this weekend for my first full vintage round of the year. The PING woods are funny looking but sure work nice and oversized for a wood wood anyways. Can never go wrong with an Anser. I traded away my Anser 2 now a BeNi Anser 4 is on my hunt list.

Right? I'm amassing a LOT of 1 irons and quite a few Ping woods, lots of eye2 and Karstens. Just a few of the items I can't say no to. So what's the tell tale on the ping shaft bands? I've noticed the colored stripes, the T, TT, Z, or ZZ Lite. Just nailed down what all that is telling me

Agree with you on the confusion of PING shafts. On my ZING irons the JZ shaft had a color coded thing going with red being stiff and blue being regular. Why not just use an R or S but guess there’s never been an industry standard and PING has always done their own thing. Who could argue with their success.

Im reading the ZZ-Lite was a light weight, tip stiff, high kick point shaft. Apparently PING used a lighter swing weight around C9 and it made these feel pretty stiff.

The EYE2 woods I have feel pretty stiff. Even a good strike lacks the feeling of a persimmon but if I’m honest the good persimmon strikes are to few and far in between for myself. Blunt instrument in comparison but a nice solid thump. BUT PING woods sure seem to have a nice LCG and seem to be easier to hit so I do like them.

Bordering on hoarding now. Saw 2 auctions nobody was bidding on and came in last second with the only bids. Got everything for $16 plus handling fees. Able to pickup so without shipping i thought what the heck.

Figured id pass these on to someone that may want them.

Absolutely nothing special but check out the leather grips. Kinda rough edges but overall still feel okay. Nice touch Mac did on these Chinese made clubs. Probably put these in the donation bucket at the driving range. Million times better than the Northwestern stuff you usually see in there.

IMG_3014.jpeg.774f6d4921e109e21e078c68f738d23a.jpegMay have gotten burned on these. They were grouped in with some women’s TM Burner LCG irons. Was hard to tell in the supplied auction pictures. Was hoping they were hickory but they are pyratone shafted. Left handed putter is very heavy. Any lefty’s out there interested let me know. All have fully intact grips. Driver is a project at best. Maybe a repair practice club?? If the cracked neck isn’t a death nail can a hickory shaft be put in a pyratone shafted club??

pretty sure you can't....different size hosel between the two. Nice Walter Hagens & who was the maker on that "Seventy Two tournament" iron?

Unsure, says putter on bottom but picture has all the script. Looks kinda like it says Vim in cursive near toe with  a squiggly looping finish.
