Had to make a judgment call. I think the only way we were going to get a full round rain check or money back is if we left. Given my past interactions with the course on service related issues I no longer really had faith in them. I really did not want to pay $60 for 9 holes even with a bounce back. Just was not worth the risk

Pro tip for southern dunes if you have a wash that can cut off 9+ holes a day after 1.5 inches of rain you might want to invest in an actual cart path bridge.
Otherwise I was impressed at how the course itself held up to all the rain

Thanks Mark appreciate you setting this up. Was a huge pita with the money requirements etc

My history with that course is less than stellar on the service side. Hopefully my correspondence with troon today will help them in the future.

Kinda weird... they said the water was barely over the crossings in the morning as evidenced by the ford between # 7 and #8, but then the water just kept rising. Which is strange as the rain had ended ~18 hours ago. Some speculation that a farmer upstream was pumping out his flooded fields into the wash.

Ryan, did you really get to play more holes or are you BS'ing us? Wally said the rangers met them on the 14th tee and made them go back.

I was in Wally's group.

Yes we had to go back...but then we decided to play 10/11/18(from the front tees not across the watch a few times). We went around those 3 holes 4 times. Every time we placed a rock at the edge of the water. It was clearly receeding. Then we ate lunch. We then played the front 9 again and then 10/11 by that time the water was down to a trickle ( around 4pm or so) and we went and played the rest of the course. Ended up having to go to extra holes to finish out our open skins. so we went back around 10/11 to settle the bets. So actually 45 holes in total.

Odd day for sure, but it was some of the most fun I have ever had. We played 3 club one 9, 1 club for 9 holes and 5 club for our final trip around.

Oh and for the record everyone should feel really bad for Wally, he was +1 after 13 and playing better as the day went along. I felt terrible that he got that round interrupted.

Also Matt's pro-tip about putting in elevated bridges at 11, 9 and 7 is spot on. The course was in perfect condition even the bunkers drained out well, but they have a disaster because of three concrete bridges...Silly. Talk about trip over a dollar to save a dime.
