I used it this morning (and multiple times last week). Didn’t notice it running slow. The FJ angle is interesting though.

That does make sense. It just seemed odd that this seems to have recently started, i.e. my son noticed it as I drove him to the course for his round, and the slowness seemed new. Granted I looked at both the web site and the app this morning and it's snappy again.

Yeah, it was yesterday specifically. Obviously Sunday is going to be a pretty heavy traffic day in general. What I thought was odd is that it was both the web site AND the app going slow. I even thought it might be something related my WiFi so I took the phone off WiFi and it was still slow. So the web site was on my laptop via cable internet, and the phone was T-Mobile, and both were slow. 

 

Oddly when my son got done with his round he didn't complain about it, and I'm on Android while he's on iOS, so maybe it wasn't affecting iOS.

Does it show ads? If so it was the ad-page server that was slow.

Looks to be an advertising partnership based on the email I received today, "The Grint Drop zone presented by FJ". Also, looks like they've made changes to the app/watch apps and what's available to free and premium members. Updates will be rolled out throughout May.

With this year's version it's really difficult to change the "first putt length" selection. Takes 6-8 attempts to get the little button to actually acknowledge a press. Very irritating.

I love TheGrint and I like what they did with the watch app but....it seems to be a lot slower syncing with the watch now and the hole number is so small that i really cant see it.  I may try Golfshot.

Is there a way to see distance to front and back of green (in addition to center)? I see the green slope map but not front/back distances.

I assume you mean when you open the GPS hole map. If so, simply click the "GPS" button on the left margin when you open the map and it will show you distance to the front of hazards/layup, as well as front/center/back of the green.

I tried the Grint since a lot of people love it.  I found the UI to be a mess.  Too much functionality.  Good luck trying to get back to a screen after you inadvertently click on something.

The connection between my phone and Samsung watch is spotty at times. There's gotta be a way to keep it connected more reliably.

I think the app is pretty intuitive. I would recommend using it with Apple Watch if you have one and link your GHIN number, so it posts your rounds. It does take some time to discover all of the functionality (shot tracking, layup distances, etc, but it's gotten better over the years.
