Nike Vapor Iron Series

I got my new set of VPC/VP irons (5-6 VPC, 7-PW VP) with Modus 120X shafts this afternoon at 3:45 EST. Unboxed them, put them in the bag, and headed to the range.

Just got back from the range... WOW! I don't know if it is the head or the shaft, but these things are tremendous. It was about 40* outside, so I was probably 7-10 yards shorter than I will be during the summer, but these were producing ideal distances and trajectory right out of the box.

I'm really excited to see these things on the course!

I played i20's for a long time, but during testing at the range the PC felt more forgiving to me, but I have yet to play a round with my PC's. I think there is a surprising amount of help in the design of the PC's that is not necessarily indicative of the slimmer top line.

I don't have a delivery date for mine yet, but hopefully it is soon!

Has anyone had experience going from DG X100s to the Modus 120X? Fighting the urge to order a set of Vapor Pros and was thinking about switching iron shafts for the first time since...well...ever. I've played DG X100s since HS in the late 90's.

Driver SS is around 116-117 but I am an extremely high ball hitter with a lot of spin so I've been thinking the Modus may be a good option to knock some of the height/spin down.

I played X100s for a while until trying the Project X 6.0s in my last set. Just received my set of VPC/VP irons with Modus 3 120X yesterday. Went to the range twice and have found them to play similarly, although maybe more like a soft stepped X100.

Haven't played them on the course yet, so I really can't tell you certainly that they play similarly, but so far I have been pretty pleased.

Yeah, it feels really good. Although, I was hitting off of mats on top of concrete and messed up my shoulder this afternoon. I'll probably lay low for a few days to let it heal up.

I changed to the Modus 120 stiff shafts. I have to play a lot in the wind. I'll post a review after I get s few rounds in them.

I played my Vapor PC/Pros for the first time today. The irons are GOOD. Lives up to the hype IMO. I was pleasantly surprised how easy and forgiving the PCs are to hit. The Pros are very accurate. I didn't see any distance gains from my Scratch TDs. Overall please with the set.

I have modus protos in one set, and x100 in another. They both feel similar. Modus launches higher for me. Nothing too noticeable in how they feel.

I see a couple of you guys bought the AW. How do you like this wedge instead of a special gap wedge like from the new engage series or something else?
Is the AW more like a PW just with more loft, or has it another headshape or sole design?

I got my AW last week, I already had the 4-pw. The AW is basically the PW with more loft, maybe a little wider sole. I only hit it a few times, but I like it more than my X3X gap wedge I had. For me the gap wedge is more like a PW, so I like it to be more like the rest of my set.

Thats what I thought. Its interesting because on the PGA Tour you see a lot of guys take out the PW and replace it with a specialist 48 degree wedge or something. Rory McIlroy comes to my mind.
Does a specialist gap wedge have more versatility than the AW or do you guys like it to be more like the normal set of irons.

My order will only be through PW...I play 52/56/60 wedges below that because they are more versatile and I can close the PW-52* gap with a knockdown or laid-off PW.

Two grass and one sim round in with VPC4-6 & VP7-pw..Modus 3 Tour 120 TX. ..these are by far the best irons Nike has made in 10 years IMHO. Both grass rounds under 80 and well...other was a sim round.
I played the Original Pro Combos and nothing till now has felt/looked this good to me since then.

I keep trying to like the AP2's...love the look and the size, but for ME, they don't offer enough feedback at impact for me...I am picky...just the way it is.

Really good day at the dome today with my vapor pros. These irons seem to feel better and better every time I hit them. I think the PXi shaft was made for me. I have never been so comfortable and so consistent with an iron. My 3 iron was carrying an average of 220 today with my best being a 228 Carry and 149 mph ball speed. The trajectory and ball flight is so perfect with absolutely no ballooning. Piercing is definitely the word. I think I lost a lot of distance with my vr pro combos just because they seemed to balloon so much. I guess It was mostly because I was using the wrong shaft. Love these clubs. Can't wait to get on an actual course and play them but I guess we're lucky to at least have a dome to hit some balls in. Damn winter.

I wouldn't think ballooning would be a factor hitting inside a dome since there's no wind. The only problem I've ever had with ballooning has been hitting into high wind.

i shot 66 on a sim this past weekend with these...tips at some course (can't remember the name of it)...take that what you will but - these irons are long and straight.

outside range and indoor range are different by about 10 yards but...i'll take it.

Nice distances. You must have a better sim than we do here. The chipping and putting we have sucks so you can't really score well. All chips fly right over the green. Ha.
