Seriously. 840am tee time at Murphy Creek tomo, hoping it holds off for a few hours so we get at least 9 in.

If you need to bail tomorrow, that's okay. The less people in front of me, the better. ;) I need to be done by 1:30pm, or else I will need to WD from my tournament and leave.

If there is one thing I am NOT...it is slow. I like the Sneds or Tom Watson way of playing golf. Make a decision and go, no need to dilly dally.

They are sending a tourney off behind tee times though? Seems a bit strange...When is your tee time?

Sounds like Murphy Creek is pushing back all tee times an hour due to the weather. Because of that, I have to WD from the tournament. :(

This weather sucks. I'd play in the rain but Denver courses are not made for this much rain..too much drainage issues.

Yes no good flood warnings everywhere. Great news is next week with the 70+ temps and sunshine, the courses will look great!

Our Men's league was able to go on Saturday. We played lift, clean & place. I only had a couple mud balls, but there was also a few spots with standing water despite the fact that it never actually rained while we were out there. You can already see what great condition this is going to have courses in. The greens despite being wet were the best they have been all season. I couldn't get over how fast they were playing.

Whoa! That is awesome, I need to consider it for next year. One thing I really love about the Wellshire Men's League is the people in it. We have 150 guys or so and we have a really great time on and off the course, which is tough to beat. How are the people in this league/tour? Playing different courses and mirroring more of a PGA style event list with majors and the Ryder Cup is very appealing to me. Are the guys in the league fun? Make any friends out there? Super competitive or lax, or in between? Would really like to hear more about that Psuedo!

I played in the FRGC for a few years, and I think there are far more positives than negatives.

Pros
-Great structure. Lots of different events and different "side bets" ex: CTP, cart bets, "most honest" (closest to shooting your handicap) birdie pool/par pool (skins) based on your handicap, there are others I can't think of.
-Great variety in terms of courses you get to play. Travel all over the Front Range from Castle Rock to Erie, from Golden to Aurora
-Diverse group of guys in terms of personality as well as skill level. Also no blatant sandbagging. Sometimes there will be a really good net score, but I think it is always just one of those rounds we all have from time to time.

Cons
-Cost. Since they are not getting any discounts for groups, and you are paying into the prize pool for each event; the cost per round can get kinda pricey depending on the course. If you are able to win a CTP, skins or finish in the money, then it doesn't seem as bad.
- Long rounds. This may have changed since I last played but there were a couple guys who would really grind out there which would make for some 5+ hour rounds. I think there was even a course or two who would not have us back as result.

But overall I think anyone who loves to play, and enjoys some good friendly competition without having to play the same track each time out. You really can't do any better in Denver than the FRGC.

What is the structure for Wellshire ML? Is it a weekend thing? How often do they play? All stroke-play events or are there some team events as well? Cost?

I'm very happy at the Links currently, but I am curious what else is out there.

Just like Kennedy Men's Club. Lots of 2-man games, a few stroke play, a calcutta scramble, etc. Back in the day, Kennedy would have a few tournaments at Wellshire; and Wellshire would play a few at Kennedy. That was nice.

I am on my 3rd year in the Wellshire mens league, let me know if you have questions. I love it out there. Lots of variety and a lot of great guys as well. $150 to join gets you your handicap for the season, 2 banquets and some other stuff like pitchers of beer and wings after some tourneys. Then each tourney has its own entry fee, and there are always net and gross skins games going too. Always looking for more people to join as well!

Might be a few too many 7:30-8AM starts for me though. I would have to give up drinking in order to make those :alcoholic:
You would fit right in. We're all a buncha drunks! I've shown up with a double screwdriver just to get back on the horse after a long night to plenty of 7 am tee times and I'm far from the only one doing it. We stick around and drink after events too. Seriously, you're going to fit in well if you join.

But in reality I opposed the early shotguns. That's new this year bc the city of Denver is being a pain. I usually request something like 830-1030 or one of the final groups around 1 or 2.

I'm tentatively scheduled to play Westmoor on June 7--provided I can wake up after going to the U2 concert the night before.

I've also gotten a conditional kitchen pass for this Sunday to play 9 holes somewhere (ain't nobody got time fo' 18!). Thinking 7am-ish at either South Suburban or Meadow Hills.

11:30-12:00 - feed kids lunch
12:00-12:30 - get kids dressed for gymnastics team photo shoot

3:00-6:00 - Swedish School with end-of-semester concert
6:30-7:30 - Figure out dinner, cook it, and eat it
8:00-9:30 - I go play floorball (the only time for any kind of regular cardio right now)

Stuff like this every Saturday and Sunday for me. :(

Willis Case is awesome! The front nine is a true gem. I'll agree with you about the back nine. Since I live down the street from the course, I've probably played there at least 200 times. I still can't believe how well designed the front nine is and is still a good test of golf today after all these years. Supposedly, Donald Ross designed it but looking it up, it is not registered with the Donald Ross Society. The back nine was designed and built by The Shriners supposedly and it shows, but mostly you can tell it was added years later as an after thought and they didn't really have the land to build it. The 19th hole and clubhouse have the best views in Denver.

Willis Case certainly is not that bad of a course. It does seem a bit quirky on the back but I have always thought overall it was a pretty good track. I prefer the Wellshire bar and patio area to all of them. The view is of the 9th hole and beyond that the foothills, and the old clubhouse gives it the feel of an old country club. Being a mens league member there, I guess I do have a slight bias though, but I have had some pretty fun times back there on the patio with the guys.
