2nd Annual PHX WRX Ryder Cup Event. Pairings up!

Ok guys the details are set.

 

Location and Date

Ak Chin Southern Dunes, Sunday 05/31 1st time 9:00 AM and will have 7 consecutive 4somes booked.

The cost

$59 per player + tax

includes round of golf range balls cart a $10 restaurant voucher and unlimited play on the mini dunes post round.

 

Format: Gross Better Ball Cart vs Cart. Each player is encouraged to play their own ball down however to help with pace of play if you are way out of the hole and holding up pace feel free to pick up and put all the pressure on your partner :rofl: . I will leave it up to the individual teams and players to determine their own strategy for better ball and how to attack the course.

 

Team Captains Wally and Blake. Pairings will be posting as the event draws closer just in case anyone drops out.

 

Tee choice, no required set tee here suggested tees Gold at 6902 yards or Blue at 6493. Only request is the entire group play the same tees for the competition. If the entire group wants to tip it out at 7500 great have at it.

 

Goodies (I refuse to call it swag):

WRX has been awesome enough to provide us lots of stuff. Each player will have a bag in their cart containing said good stuff. I am not going to say what it is and ruin the surprise. I am pretty confident you will love it though.

 

I am working on a deal with WRX Sponsor and all around awesome jerky maker Kingmade Jerky to have a little something in each of the bags for you guys to snack on during the round. Massive thanks to Jeff from Kingmade for working with me on this one

I know time is a concern for some but I really hope everyone is able to plan to stick around post event to enjoy our lunch voucher, share a beer and swap tall tales. Also do not forget we will have free play on #minidunes after the event mini dunes opens at aprox 2:30.

 

I would like to thank everyone for signing up and making this our biggest event to date. I still remember the first one I did at the Dunes many years ago. I think we had 12 players if that, so it is very cool to see these events grow over the years.

Just out of curiosity how would you fit a 12 capper like myself into the mix???

You would be just fine. There is a wide swath of playing abilties in our groups. You would likely be in a match with somebody of roughly equivalent skill on the opposite side.

Most of the people have played enough golf together to know where everyone falls so with a new player providing an index it allows them to be slotted into an appropriate matchup.

How about we play the sum of both scores on the team?

What I found when playing only best ball is that whenever a guy hits a bad tee shot he would just pretty much just give up on the hole and lean on the partner. Where as the sum will require every shot to count even after bad tee shots.

Part of why I was thinking better ball is if one guy is way out of shape a hole and going to post a big number he can pick up and jump on his partners back so to speak thus helping pace. Still want the outing to be fun and not a total grind fest.

However if enough guys stick around for mini dunes that could be something fun to do, Im pretty sure we can play as one huge group and just do a team total vs team total

Cool good start to the turnout so far. Might need to have Devin hold a couple more times for us.

We are at 16 guys committed right now, I know there are about 5 others that are waiting to confirm the date 100%. Devin has upped the reservation to 28 spots. I am thinking about keeping it there and cap it at 28 guys. Typically we end up with at least a few last minute dropouts. 28 would also make it one of the highest turnout events we have had. If we have a couple more requests than 28 I will start a waiting list to fill in for the inevitable dropouts

I could very easily do one of those - hint, it's under the middle shell.
I've had a dozen golf trips the past 2.5 years with my two best mates and with one now injured and the other a brand new dad (looming dadhood the catalyst for all the trips) I'm not sure I can go cold turkey so this'll work a charm
