Rivers Edge has some excellent holes along the water, although there is a par 5 that's a bit tricked up.

#9? Which temps you to go in two except the green is only maybe 10 paces wide at the angle you'd have to hit in from and surrounded by water on three sides - and coming in with a wood, so bascially impossible to hold it and you ball is in the water short or long. Or a 9 iron lay up to the right and then coming into the long narrow green lengthwise with a wedge for third (still not an easy shot).

That hole?? I hate it, if I am remembering it correctly. But I love the course.

That's the one. If the wind is blowing you might as well put your ball in your pocket and move on.
I have heard it suggested that even Arnie doesn't like the hole and he designed it.

As a part time resident of Myrtle, Rivers Edge is AWESOME. Another course that hasn't been mentioned but has views that mimic those of Tidewater is Glen Dornoch. 16, 17, and 18 may be the best 3 finishing holes from the back that I've played. But seriously. No beachwood, no azalea, those are the two worst.

What's up fellow golfwrxer's! It's that time of year again for the DelFuego golf group to invade Myrtle Beach. I got some great suggestions last year from everyone on where we should play, etc. so I figured I would go back to the well! This year we are going the latest we have ever gone, the weekend of May 14th. We have 6 rounds scheduled and we have a stable of 16 courses to choose from. Some we've played over the past 15 years, some we haven't. There are some stinkers in this group but we think there are some decent tracks as well. I would like to get some feedback on people who have recently played some of these courses. Because as we all know, pictures on the website can be very deceiving. Here is the list of courses-

Indian Wells
Indigo Creek
Burning Ridge
Cape Fear National
Carolina National
Rivers Edge
Sandpiper Bay
Crow Creek
Eagle Nest
Black Bear
Brunswick Plantation
Pearl East & West
River Oaks
Colonial Charters
Azalea Sands
Beachwood

I appreciate everyone taking the time to read and any input!

Thanks!

2. Carolina National

4. Pearl West

Whatever you do... stay away from Beachwood. My buddy picked that place to play last year for our "opening round" the day we got there.

Honestly, I'm not sure I would play that course at home. My goal on a golf trip is to play the kind of courses that are not readily available for me in NJ.

I'm pretty sure the clubhouse was some kind of out of business fast food joint from the 70's.

I've been to MB twice and stayed at the Legends. All the courses there are nice and Oyster Bay and Heritage Club are really good also. The course I didn't care for was TPC. The layout was decent but it doesn't drain good at all. I was told it rained 2 days before we played, yet there was standing water in some areas of the course making it unplayable. To make things worse it was cart path only and the course ranger was on our butts after the third hole for slow play. The staff wasn't pleasant to deal with at all. I would avoid that course....

I have to agree with the majority of those stating that list of courses is sub-par. ESPECIALLY a year after playing Barefoot - I cannot imagine that there wouldn't be a letdown by the majority of the group (and more than your fair share of grumbling). Give Garrett a shout at Condolux. He has booked our trips for years.....~$600 for 6 rounds & & nights in a condo on much better courses than those.

Best of luck.
