Vega VM-__ vs Yururi Flatback

Anybody have experience with both the Yururi Flatback and the Vega VM-01? I've had the Yururi, but I'm wondering how the offset and grind compare on the Vega. If somebody doesn't have experience with both, maybe we can get pictures of both from different users in one thread. Thanks all.

Here's something from when I had the Yururi and did a black oxide refresh on them.

Both have the same forging House but the Vega irons are so much more forgiving. The Vega irons are also a bit larger.

The Flatbacks sit somehwere in between the VM-01 and VM-02. But the VM-02 has extra heel and toe grind, which sets it apart. The VM-01 is a touch more forgiving and has more muscle than the Flatbacks. Both are Kyoei, so it's a preference on feel/look. Not noticable difference from top line (thicker/offset) or heel to toe length.

I'm close to actually shafting them up and putting them in play. I had them away for a while and took them out recently. I think they get prettier every time I look at them. ?

I can't help it. VM-02's have been on my radar for over a year now, but the last week or so I've been seriously pursuing a set. This thread doesn't help. I find myself buying some VM02 heads in the next month.

Are you looking for raw (very rare - only 50 made) or plated?

All I am finding are plated sets. Never owned a raw set.

Raw irons are pretty cool but a pain in the butt as well. I like my raw Vegas a lot for what it is worth.

in the case of yururi/vega raw, the way they do their raw finish actually holds up really well to everything, and unlike most finishes, looks better with more wear and patina. then you can easily touch them up too when u want a refresh. I love looking at my flatbacks as they just keep looking cooler with age and use!

There's a set of new 02 heads on ebay at a decent price. I just decided not to buy them but they are sweet.

Yah I seen them. That seller is just north of me. The raw finish though. Kayaaayell is persuasive.

If the price is right, get them in raw. You won't regret it. My only problem with raw sets is I have 3 and none are gamers so the rust in garage by just existing......
If my only set was raw, and I didn't live in Florida, I would have a different take...

I have all 3- Flatbacks, VM1&2. All have Monaco shafts. The FBs and 02 are Raw, the 01 chromed. Vegas are bigger. Like the Yururis best- no particular reason. They do frame a ball better than any other iron I have....if that's your thing.

Bar Keeper's Friend does wonders on rust and is cheap and easy

yup had both
same head ground differntly.
not sure which i prefreed , the yururis had a nice edge relief and slightly rounded ,smaller l more comapct ook, the kyoei v-muscles are just a chunk blank.with more oomph.
found the kyoeis to be nicer on thicker grass, and the yururis performed more consistant on hard pan.
the yururi flatbacks spun MUCH more. andd looked fkkn awosme n the bag, esp when they rusted up!
the kyoeis are just such a nice all rounder.

splitting hairs ,but i guess the size is the discernable differnce

[/quote]Vm01s to me play easier it has to do with pre worn leading edge on 01s in comparision vm02s long irons i find easy to launch but struggle with high irons
Vm01s have shimada tours vm02s have steelfiber 110s
