no there is nothing, i've checked every club 3-pw.

they came wrapped in a mizuno box. The only difference i saw was the clubs themselves inside were not laying on foam and were not wrapped in baggies with a rubber band like my set of mp-60s. 50% were in newspaper and the other 50% were w/ newspaper and a sealed bag (almost like a headcover) - the baggies had a barcode sticker and printed on them was "made in china".

I custom ordered my mx23s and they have serial numbers on them...however when I just ordered 7-pw in my mp60s, no serial#.

For me I'm assuming because I didn't get my 7-pw as a full set no #s.

Right above the words in your picture, there should be a serial number lasered on the hosel. I have 32's and 60's, and a while back Mizuno went away from putting the serial number on the ferrel and went to this process.

I don't want to raise an alarm here, but if these were bought brand new, they should have been in a Mizuno box with the standard Mizuno foam packing material. Every set I've ever had from Mizzy has come like this, and that includes back in the days of the 14's and 29's. Very odd.

i am trying to get in touch with the seller, i have a feeling maybe he put together a whole set from two partial sets and thats why there is no serial? i showed them to my golf pro he said they looked legit and there was no way to replicate a club like that.

All Mizuno irons IF they are new from the Mizuno factory (as opposed to another factory and yes there are) will have serial numbers on EITHER the hosel or the ferules. If they do not have serials on either, you want to hope that these irons were reshafted by the previous owner who got them with ferules with the matching serials.

FYI, all my mizuno irons, MP 33, 32, MX 23, 25 have serials either on hosel or ferules without exception.

If you bought them under the premise that are are new stock from mizuno, I'm afraid you may have been stuffed.

The sorry fact is that there are people selling unauthorised heads that maybe have been smuggled out of the factory or may have some QC defect (which may not be visible to the eye) and junked and then again smuggled out. Just like many of the SuperQuad heads on ebay and maybe on many golf related sites. The smuggling game has got so advanced that some of them have laser etching machines to etch the serials on hosels so don't be surprised if you find many heads with the same serial numbers just like some Tourstage X-drive 435 heads in the past that had the same serial letters. For now, they seem not to vary the serial numbers or letters... for now. If retail, best to buy from an authorised source even if you have to pay a premium and if Tour, for me, no serials don;t cut it. There must be a visual tour demarkation like TG stamp or TM 200 smoothie etc. Just me though.

Just an FYI.

Was verifying the serial number on my MP-37s back in December with Mizuno. Got lucky and got a guy who had worked for them for many years. I asked why some Mizunos had serials on the hosel and some had them on the ferules. He said that sometime around late '05 they stopped putting them on the ferules and started lasering them on the hosel because there were so many complaints about authenticity, etc. because people would sometimes reshaft the irons and use new ferules....thus bye bye serial numbers. Serial on the hosel....no issues.

Good Luck.

Like I said in a previous post, I believe this is true only if getting a full set. As my custom order full set of MX23s are etched above the grain flow forged stamp with the same serial # (six numbers) on every iron.

However if one was to order single clubs (in my case 7-pw in MP60) there is no serial as they are individual irons and not matched to a set.

I know my 7-pw without serial are the real deal as they were custom ordered by the Mizuno rep

Not True - I had ordered a set of 37's 5-PW 2 years ago and they had a matched set of S/N's on hosel. I then ordered a 4 iron the following year and it had a S/N (different than original set) also on the hosel.

Not sure why you are saying not true...in your case perhaps, but I KNOW in my case, with ordering single clubs, mine did not have a serial number on them.

I'm looking at the clubs right now...no #s on my 7-pw...custom ordered straight from the factory to the rep to me. Legit clubs, no #.

(Maybe they are "tour issued" ;) )

Over here NO Mizuno clubs have a serial number anywhere but on the ferrules. Each club in the set has the number.

Maybe your set came from here and have been re-shafted hence new blank ferrules?

Update: talked to the seller - seller said the irons were reshafted that's why they do not have serial #'s. Seller is from CANADA. Took the irons to the driving range today and definetly confirmed that they are legit.

- is there a way of identifying counterfeit Mizuno irons ??

this is my 4-iron:

You can relax. They're real. One of my golf buddies also own MP-32 irons set and they look just like yours. The SN# is located on ferrules and if he had them reshafted, the SN# would have been gone just like in your case. My MP-60 also doesn't have SN#. Apparently when I bought them pre-owned, the previous owner had had reshaft. As someone has said on previous post, starting late '05 Mizuno began to laser etched the SN on hosel. So, there's a big chance your set is made prior to that time as well as mine and my friend's.

Now the question is how to identify whether or not the Mizuno is fake just by the appearances, performance, quality, etc aside from the SN#. Does someone has a clue?

Could be a Canada thing then as again my MP60s 6-PW (ordered directly from the Mizzy rep here) have no etching....yet my Mp57 4-5 Iron/mpt wedges ordered from the rep in the states does.

Strange as all my clubs went through the custom shop (which I believe is in the states) due to my specific loft/lie/shaft/SW needs.
As well as my Mx23s ordered here in Canada DO have etchings on them....

Oh well, I KNOW my clubs are the real deal.....just seems strange.

Sadly there is a good chance you've purchased fake clubs - ebay is loaded with them. Researching the sellers feedback - what previous items he has sold and at what price can be a good indication. I am an e bay seller of golf equipment "starbold28" of several years standing - i have written a review - accessible via my e bay site - giving advise on how to spot the fakers. The criminals who sell fake clubs are spoiling ebay as a useful source of golf equipment. My advise is to get the clubs checked by a genuine mizuno stockist and if they are fakes report the seller to the police or local trading standards.
