MD/VA/DC Golfers - Ten Seconds or Less

GTW: Depends whether I have played the course before, but generally don't come in with a plan. My tee game has been so bad for the last couple of years that I need to just get there and see what fits my eye. Even courses I consider my home courses, I will have a plan, but always subject to change depending on conditions (both course and my mental).

- overall, Sully swung harder than I've ever seen him. Much more aggressive move, I like it. Ball flight is higher with the irons, same with driver (too low for my taste, I think). He out drove me on hole #2. I'm liking his new swing.

Sully really hit the ball off the tee better yesterday than I've seen him hit it in a couple years. More power, sounded better, everything about it was awesome. He said its still a work in progess but boy it looks good.

Hard to hear swing compliments on a day I lost EIGHT BALLS, but it kind of mirrors how I'm thinking about it. I was overdoing something I was working on the previous 2 range sessions. I figured it out on about the 12th hole. I played 12-17 pretty solid, and my drive on 16 was the nicest one I can remember hitting this year. Not sure what I was doing of the tee on 18 to ruin all of that. Feel like the next round out I'll be good again. I'd be pissed if we were playing BPB and I did that though. I'd stew on that for the rest of the year.

I could stand to hit driver higher for sure. The new shaft I put in is actually pretty damn low launching, which I didn't expect. I have it set at 12* though. I'm gonna play with it and maybe get a shaft fitting somewhere down the line. Good enough for now. It was nice yesterday for lots of extra roll.

- The Truvis is NOT easier to find I the rough or long grass or woods. False advertising.

We are risking the ire of the CCMVP2016, but...Definitely. I still have another 2 sleeves of them left to play though :). The ones I lost weren't THAT bad either. They weren't "oh ya, that's gone". They mostly trickled in to the thick stuff on the roll and just couldn't be found. I lost 8, but was 0 for 8 on those. On a good karma day, I think all of them but the tee shots on 18 were fairly easily findable.

I'm digging the Chrome Soft overall though.

sully, check your driver face alignment. i could be wrong, but i think the 12° makes the face close, hence the lefts you were experiencing. you almost have to regrip the club open to deliver that loft to the ball.

also, not sure if you experimented with teeing it higher when we had that whole discussion on improving launch characteristics (the howard jones driver face image).

also, meant to say this too: you hit some wonderful pitches/chips. short game looked good. well, save the Dickcroft on 5.

Eagle, we talked about this. There was no sand in that bunker. How can I be expected to play in those sorts of conditions?

I do think I need to tee it up a bit more. I think when I go to the range with the rubber tees, most are too low and I practice with them. Then I tee it a little low because that's what I'm used to seeing.

Not sure on the face. Maybe. I have a magnetic lie angle tool around here, so I'll check it out. I know I always seem to have a closed face when I test that with irons.

Recap #4 from NW yesterday:

- Nice to finally put some back to back good rounds together, following up the 74 at Woodlands with a 77 (39-38) at NW though once again missed a couple of short putts that could have made the round even better. Was on both Par 5s on the back in two (both with 3i in to the green). Haven't done that in a while.

- Eagle played well and really had a great ball-striking day; if the putter was on he would have been around even par easy. As DC and Sully have mentioned, the ball was really flying yesterday. DC hit a couple of what looked like very smooth 3/4 swings into greens and the ball was flying 5 yards or so over the back. Sully's tee game is coming around and was as long off the tee as I have ever seen (though I'm not in for seeing him and FABB compare tee lengths). Overall a fun day...with some funny moments:

- On 16 I am preparing to hit my 2nd into the green on the par 5.....DC says something to me about yardage.....I'm totally zoned in on my PSR and respond with something that I can't even remember.....DCs response was something to the effect "...well just f%%^ off then" :taunt: It literally took me a few seconds after my shot to realize what transpired and I could hardly contain my laughing while Eagle was trying to hit. DC - Can you fill in the blanks here?

- Regarding the two elder gents we let play through, I may have been the one who said when they passed out from heat exhaustion we would play through and call for help from the next tee box. Practicing in the fairways (as a twosome riding) while holding up a foursome walking was absurd....and I don't think they were using lines on their balls to align putts either. Eagle snapping bad at those two on 10 and 11 was great to watch.

- Put the UDI 2i in play again and only used it once....and that was a mistake that cost me a bogey. Need to spend a bit more time with it on the range before taking it out again. Haven't hit any balls with it for practice, other than warm-ups before the last two rounds.

- Still need to work on eliminating a few silly mistakes (hitting 3wd out of rough on par 5, three-putting from 8 feet, missing 2-3 footers, etc.) that are costing me 3-4 shots a round.

was actually on #14. i was right there, so i can give you exactly how it went down.

me: damn, i just smashed that 3w! 260 out and i am pin high! i am such a fantastic golfer and am very handsome as well!

stix: <looking at his gps, looking at his clubs, looking at his gps>

DC: <looks at his watch and mouths "any day now jerkface" while being in a hurry up stance> hey stix, you want me to shoot the flag for you?

stix: i think it's 255, slightly downhill.

DC: well F**K YOU then <stomps off>

stix: hmmm, 2i or 3i? or hybrid? or easy 3w? driver off the deck? naw, i want to hit something hard and let it release. let's go with 3i. <pauses and turns to me> what did DC say?

me: oh nothing. i'm sure it's fine.

stix: <laces it right at the flag from 255 with a 3i and it runs up there to 8 feet>

me: F**K ME and F**K you too.

DC: <muttering> well, i guess that was worth the wait.

sully: anyone seen my truvis? it should be easy to find with that soccerball pattern. lol, jk. i'm switching balls.

14? I'm pretty sure that a par 3 at Bethpage Black, and certainly not 260 yards. You sure you played there yesterday?

- 2 more GIRs than average

- A little over 1 more FW than average

- 1 less putt than average

- 18% increase in par save percentage
