Hwiskey Creek Breakdown:

1. uphill. lots more room than what appears from the tee. i usually hit a cut a the left fairway bunker. depending on the tees you play from (tips, right?), you can carry the right bunkers and have a little wedge in. green slopes primarily back left to front right, but there are some swales in there.

2. uphill. bombs away with big dog off the tee. ample fairway, no reason why you shouldn't hit it. add 1.375 clubs to your approach. green slopes back to front, with a spine than runs down the middle. fun hole.

....

Copy, paste, print. Thanks again, Eagle.

Sully really hit the ball off the tee better yesterday than I've seen him hit it in a couple years. More power, sounded better, everything about it was awesome. He said its still a work in progess but boy it looks good.

Eagle also looked good rocking the white linen pants yeseterday. Sully and I both remarked how impossible it would have been for either of us to wear them, they would have been absolutely soaked. Eagle didnt look like he had one drop of sweat on them.

Kudos again to Stix for an amazing round. Even when he hits a skank shot here and there, he just knows he can hit the next one close so nothing ever seems to bother him.

Also worth noting, the combined age of the twosome that Eagle wanted to fight was @170 - and I might be underselling it.

you also said you wouldn't have called for help if they had passed out in the fairway in front of us UNTIL we had played back through them. so there's that, too.

Just called my Dad because today is his 75th birthday. Told me he shot 78 last weekend. Noice.

Waverly with Sneek and PQ yesterday.

Played the front in 1:30. Got behind a threesome on 10. They had no one in front. played the back in 2:30. Can we all just build our own course?

All 3 of us had eagle putts on 11. Finished with an eagle, a par, and a bogey.

Me and PuppyMasher gonna SMASH at UMD. Yeah bruh, I got you a nickname for your nickname. Wear shorts. It will distract Kent.

GTW 1.0 (because I know there will be more)

When you guys draw up a game plan for a course, both new or previously played, do you determine the tee club of choice, excluding par 3s of course, or do you wait to see what the hole looks like, where the tees are, how you're feeling, wind, etc.?

Making some notes for Whiskey now, which I never do, but decided to mark down holes were I will hit driver and others where I'll hit 3W, or less depending on the tees. Also putting down approx shot shape preferred given the diagrammatic view of the fairways, since I know it'll look different standing on the tee sometimes. The plan is to refer to notes, see a "D", pull the driver, no 2nd guessing. We'll see if I actually do it.

Also seems that Whiskey tends to favor a fade in general?

They were using a line on the ball, weren't they?

yeah, they would point it into the long grasses and swing right at it.

DC - is this the umbrella you have? Has anyone used this?

They're like 20 bucks at Amazon. Thinking about getting one.

whiskey is actually open enough to be able to hit any shot shape. you only really need to hit a fade on like one hole. hitting a fade might be the preferred shape (to essentially increase the size of the fairway), but honestly, it's not a must at all. course should be in good shape, have fun.

GTW: i try to envision hitting tee shots (picking clubs/ideal shot shapes ahead of time) but the day-of, i'm going with how i've been hitting it that day. if i can't find the face of my 3w, i'm not hitting it, regardless of my plan.

i think we all talked about this recently, maybe you missed those 10 pages. let me see if i can find them.

GTW : I don't pre-plan for new courses. I just go play, and develop a game plan over time, based on experience. I also don't try to hit a certain shot shape off the tee to fit the hole, basically ever.

Like eagle said, hwhiskey doesn't require a fade. It doesn't even necessarily give you an advantage to hit a fade on more than a couple holes.

Trust me, that's why I typically don't plan, because I'm so inconsistent and the planned club will more than likely be in the doghouse by then.

Also, when I say preferred shot shape, I was glamorizing a little. When I say "straight/cut" in my notes, it just means, swing the swing that doesn't duck hook... and "draw" means don't friggin go right.

Would these also be good for fall, when it may be a little cooler in the morning. I know it says they provide a cooling effect, but DC would these be a good alternative to going with long sleeves or a base layer?

I got out to Waverly with City and PQ yesterday afternoon. I had a BOGO offer that was going to expire so it was nice to get to use that. City and PQ are great guys to play with and I enjoyed the round.

This was my first time at Waverly and I liked it a lot. It was nice having City and PQ to show me the way around the course. I shot an 85 which should have been a lot better. I had a few awful shots on the front nine that led to double and then my ability to lag putt went away altogether for a stretch (I had 13 putts in a 4 hole stretch)., Overall, this was one of my better ball striking rounds to date and I hit some awesome drives. So, I can feel a good score coming soon.

Like City said we all had eagle putts on the 11th. My 9 iron rolled all the way to the back right of the green (the ball was really flying yesterday) and there was a front pin. I then proceeded to 4 putt...
