Can we get some recaps from the rounds today?

 

Seemed like a decent weather day for playing. Spent the morning in Waldorf couch shopping. Even less fun than it sounds (especially with 3 kids in tow).

 

I was able to briefly pop into Dicks to check out their clearance sale but that was only because I scarfed down my Grand Mac (I knew it was a bad decision when I ordered it and it met expectations of making me feel sad afterwards...sooo much fat, so much regret).

 

Couldn't find any DT deals on shoes so was in and out in under 10 min.

Got out early to walk 18 at Prince William. Started and ended with pars with a couple of birdie looks; hit 11/14 fairways with the driver flying straight for all but two holes (overshot the fairway on the other). Unfortunately, I stunk up two Par 3s; combine that with only 5 GIRs and I'm leaving a lot of opportunities out there.

 

Picked up a F7+. F7 was close to 25% off so took the deal while it was there. Hit it last weekend but was not getting anywhere. Moved the weight to the back and it got better. Last night, I put in a Chrome Elements and all seems good in the world. Still not getting my clubhead speed up enough so there's I got work to do.

 

Tested the Epic last month at Golfdom and went back today. Was good the first time, a low spinning monster. Today, with SZ/Hazardous, low spin but no distance. Switched to regular Epic , took a few more swings but only slightly better. Adjusted loft up to 10* and switched to the Fuji green. Bingo. A little shorter than normal but was tired from the morning plus had some street clothes and a sweater on. Gonna stay on the Cobra for now. #suckitepic.

 

Went and picked up some FJ Versaluxe shoes. My Biom Hybrid GTX are just about dead on the inside.

 

(Full disclosure: I would bang the Epic. I'm sure the summer game would yield some longer results. Also like the look of the Fuji stick on it.)

Got out to Wetlands in Aberdeen 12:44 tee time with my wife got paired with the other 2 Golfnow guys 19$pp course was in pretty decent shape,driver was a little erratic but not so bad that I was in trouble.Number 2 has a creek at 250 running across end of fairway par 4 365yds so I get under it a little and fade it right now I'm still 236 out so I figure F it try the 3 wood again,hit a lazer right at the pin one of the most beautiful shots I ever hit (I said to my self oh s*** that's incredible)lands on front of green and sticks I'm about 20ft.to the pin end up lipping out for birdie and got par,rest of day I was hitting my irons pretty good sometimes to good and over shot the green,really need to practice putting lost out on a few pars and birdies shot 88 winter rules lcp.

Cancelled on Fabb and Sully today to go to UMD with Mtn and Siegel yesterday. Played a 3 man game.

 

Some pretty good stuff from every one. Siegel warned me early on that he's gunning for us guys in the mid singles. He showed it early, too. Pars and bogies from him early until he 827'ed his tee ball on 8 and managed to thin it over the green. Still, he came back from that with a nice par on 9.

 

Shot of the day candidate from Siegel on 12. He had about 145 in from the fairway bunker and knocked one pin high to about 15 feet. But, he went a little pear-shaped after that.

 

Mtn flip flopped him. Some shaky stuff on the front (but some nice upsieDownsies on 2 and 5 for par and bombs on 4 and 8 for bogey). But he had it going on the back. He tossed a 60 in over a bunker on 10 to a short sided pin to about a foot. He had nice looks at birdie on 13, 15, 17 and 18 (18 was 425, uphill, and playing all of that. Mtn had a 5 wood in that he hit to about 12 feet). But he couldn't buy a putt. Tap in pars are always welcome.

 

The two of them were duking it out for second place in the match because I sort of had it going both sides. Had 3 bogies on the front to go with 6 pars. All 3 bogies were made with a wedge in my hand from 100 yards. Finally got on the got it moving in the right direction with B2b b's on 11 and 12. 11 was a putt from the fringe down a slope where I basically had to putt with my back to the hole. The putt went out about 8 feet then turned 90 degrees left and rolled down a bank right into the center. Very nice read.

 

Bad bogey on the reachable 13th. Almost jarred a 3 iron on 14, playing 205 and lipped out the 6 footer coming back. Bogeyed 16 from a green side bunker in 2 to go back to even on the back, but got it back with an 8 footer on 17. Nice ud on 18 to finish the back -1 and the round at +2. 3 bogeys with a wedge and bogeyed both 5s on the back. I do not exaggerate when I say it could have been a 58.

 

We played yellow tees which go about 6350. All 3 of us were just smashing the tee ball. 3 in the FW on 1 and 2. If we missed fairways, it was usually by a couple of yards. Only lost ball all day was Siegel on 16 trying to cover the traps.

 

16 we let the carts go down the hill and mine took a left turn right at the creek where Hoop rolled his into last year. Well, mine slowed down and seemed to pause on the edge just like Tiger's chip on 16 that year, then went over the edge like a champ.

 

Pretty quick round. Played in just under 4 hours with a busy course. Mtn was pretty disturbed by the amount of dungarees on the course. And, it was a lot. We were 2 behind a fivesome on the back, but they kept pace and the group in front of us had some duffers but they kept it moving, too.

 

I like that course more each time I play it. I have played it in bad condition, but yesterday greens were rolling better than Waverly or Hobbits or Norbeck. $27 walking.

One thing to add... I think this was about the 37th-54th hole with the same k-sig. The ball looks like I dug it out of a peat bog then hit it with a belt sander a couple of times.

Got knocked on my a** Friday by a 3 day flu of some kind. Sore throat, cough, not hungry at all for almost two days. I think a couple guys here have had the same thing, man it was not messing around. This morning is the first time I've been hungry in almost two days. Not sure I could hit balls today even if I wanted to.

 

10 day forecast shows mid 60s for next weekend and not even the remotest chance of snow. This winter has been so so awesome.
