Why are the PX shafts only offered in 5.0 and 6.0, and not 5.5?
I'm wondering same thing...I suppose we can hard step a 5.0 or soft step a 6.0, but 5.5 is basically a stock stiff...you'd think that would be an option.

Royal Precision (and now TT) labeled 5.0 to be regular and 6.0 to be stiff. The "I need a stiff" crowd would resist buying 5.5.

Probably cost. Cheaper to have fewer options for no upcharge. If you decide to have only two options tho, 5.0 and 6.0 are the obvious choices.

I hit them last night and I am smitten. Only the 7 iron so I'm waiting to see the wedge and 4 iron before I pull the trigger. It felt very soft, had a nice penetrating flight (I hit with X100) and the turf interaction was very good. I was really worried that the soles would be too fat like the i20's and i25's and Ansers. At least the 7 iron was not. I've attached some comparison pictures with my Rocketbladez tour.

I hit it yesterday with 5 different shafts (CFS regular, CFS stiff, DGS300, KBS Tour regular and KBS Tour stiff).

First off, looking at all of the pictures on here I was worried that these were going to be tiny, not so. Very confidence inspiring and very similar looking to the i5.

Feel is a bit muted, not sure how to describe it except different. I didn't like it but I didn't dislike it either. They felt better off of grass than mats.

Finish after 50 balls did not show a mark on the face and only slight brush marks on the sole.

The KBS Tour / head combo felt the best and produced the best ball flight for me and dynamic gold was next. The CFS felt terrible.

This was my first time swinging a club in two weeks so I don't have much else to offer. By the time I got to the end of the bucket things were going better. I could fade it, draw it, high, low etc.

I want to demo a few more times before I commit to $1000.

BTW, you can't see the blue at address!!!!!

Does anyone understand why the stock lie angle is based on "blue" color code but are only slightly different than the S55 and i25 which are based on "black"?

I am not 100% sure, but I believe it has to do with the shaft being 1/4" longer in the stock configuration. Ping takes length and lie into consideration when assigning color codes.

If I understand correctly, the color codes remain the same. Ping is just stocking the Blue color code at retail locations. In other words, blue is not the new black. If you order a particular color code, the code will be based off the black color code. If anybody else knows for certain, please chime in.

The color code has not shifted. Blue is still what blue was and yellow is still what yellow was. The standard has changed because through PING's massive fitting data and research it was found that more people are fitted more upright with yellow as the middle of the bell curve, however lower handicap player tend to be just a little flatter and hedge towards blue. Hence the new standard yellow color on Gmax and blue on I E1. This will be true at least in the US market.

Funny how the mind works -- I hit my i25's great and then last night on the 9th hole I'm thinking -- yeah this CFS shaft does balloon a bit too much in the wind -- the exact opposite of the reason I convinced myself I NEEDED them two years ago....lol

I think the bullets under the specs are where the confusion lies. On the S55 60.75 for 5 iron is black. On ie1, 60.75 is blue.

Hit the 7 iron indoors today with kbs tour stiff. They look ok, larger than my Fly z + irons with more offset but better overall when compared to the i25/i20. Very similar feel to the i25, again it was indoors so not ideal.

Oh boy, this is too big of a topic to cover completely in this forum. I recommend a search, there are a few threads that go in depth in the subject. Basically, loft and lie interactive dynamically. As the length of the club get longer, the dynamic light changes. Ping understands this better than anybody

Just placed my order for the i-e's 6-PW,UW w/XP 95, and Ping 5L grips gold color code. I wanted either the CFS or XP's, and the XP's felt better to me. Shipping end of the month. I've played early year Taylormade irons that were made from 431ss and loved that feel. Cant wait to get them in the bag. They didn't have anything on the New ES Glide's yet, might have to give it some time.

You definitely need a new set of irons, and the short irons look money. Better grind, better top line, softer, what's not to like.
no, not just you... I have my mind made up that I was going to get new irons when the i25s were replaced. I just bought my kid a new set of clubs as he grew 6 inches in 7 months. So Dad takes a backseat.
I will probably see about playing in some tournaments the next 6 months or so and try to build up some pro shop credits so that they don't cost me a full grand. Then I can unload my ansers for a few handy and make it more "manageable"

As for my response.. All in good fun my friend.
Fighting in here with people isn't my style. Its the internet. I don't claim to be an expert on many things... So, i never set myself up to get made to look more stupid than I can do on my own LOL

when I bought my anser irons a few years ago.. I put 5.5s in them. they didn't offer them, but didn't charge me anything different then

I am going to do 6.0s this time around in the short irons and 5.5 in the 6, 5, and 4 as I hit a fade naturally, but when I hit a more solid shot in the 7 8 and 9s i tend to hit the fade less and the baby draw more. I think its the shaft..
I also and going to have the lofts adjusted. I don't care about the distance. I want the gaps right. So my PW is going to be soften to 47, and then I will work back from there.

I hit my gap wedge 115 but my PW can go 140... yeah, thats not what I need... I need a PW to go 130... and my 9 to be 145 and my 8 to be 160
by the time I get to the 7, it will be back to standard lofts.

Yeah I am weird
