New KBS CTaper broke at hosel

I just broke my 6 iron KBS C-Taper 120 at hosel. Clubs are 3 month old. Also I was practicing at the turf and rained for 2 days here!!! Turf was soaked and really soft!!!

 

Does anyone know how to procede?

 

I bought the clubs at Orlando, but now I'm in Argentina...

Call or email KBS. They are pretty good about sending a replacement shaft. You will probably have to take it to a shop for them to remove the shaft stuck inside and then install the new replacement shaft. KBS won't cover the labor or new grips though. Another option is contact the shop that you bought it from and see what they can do but that might be hard since you are now in a different country. You never know though. Good luck.

So the KBS breakage problem continues...these KBS breakage problems have been reported on this site for around 18 months now. The number of posts make it very hard NOT to believe KBS shafts are more subject to breakage than other steel iron shafts. I guess I will continue to avoid them.

Even though they have great customer service I definitely don't trust anymore that they won't over time bend. Even if the have actually fixed the the bending issue it's always in the back of my mind and the last thing I need is to not trust my equipment. I've since switched to the Nippon Modus 130 from the C-Tapers and couldn't be happier.

Good luck getting it replaced. I requested and was granted replacement for a shaft and they never sent it. I've also requested labels multiple times and never received them. Will be moving to a different manufacturer in my next set.

Be patient but stay on them. My replacements took several weeks for the issue to be replied to.

I ordered replacement labels.. Chris answered me nicely.. Told me he sent them out.. its been 7 months without getting them and emailing them multiple times without any responses.. Good customer service!

Kbs still have issues with there tips bending and breaking, sell those and get you some nippons

I played c taper S+ and also had issues. I had them bend down at the hosel. I still have the irons with c taper shafts and pretty sure if I pulled them, many would be bent. I ended up with a new set of irons and project x 6.5 instead.

It is pretty frustrating even if KBS does send a replacement and it shouldn't be happening this much. I'm with you and avoiding KBS shafts for awhile even though I really like them.

Hmm, interesting. I was thinking about getting KBS for my hybrids and irons/wedges but I guess I will avoid them! They wouldn't last very long with my swing lol

I too have had issues with bent shafts, though with buying used Ctapers of BST. Be very wary of buying any Ctapers off BST. I had bought a set of irons and wedges shaft separately and both were bent. Although KBS did replace them (with a little persistence) both times, it's was a hassle.

I bet many people are playing with bent KBS shaft with no clue until you pull them.

Too bad, because I love the way they feel and flight, but hard to trust them.

What are the alternative to Ctapers in feel? Besides PX and Modus3 130s? Which one would you say is the closest?

PX would be my choice...

If you are hard on the tips of iron shafts because of a high swing speed, and steep angle of attack, I would suggest sticking with Dynamic Gold.

If you are hard on iron shaft tips, I would also stay off range mats, and try to find a grass range.

I've bent C-Tapers and Project X. I suspect Nippon Modus3 130's would also bend on me over time as well.

The Nippon Modus3 130 plays a lot like a C-Taper, but with better feel. I like the Project X, but they definitely feel more robust in your hands than C-Tapers of similar profile.

I've played PX 6.0, Flighted 6.0, DG X100, S300 and S400, C Taper Lite S, C Taper Lite X, and C Taper S 120's, and I'd say the PX's are miles away from C Tapers in terms of feel. The PX's you can feel the shaft load in the transition, not so with any variation of the C Tapers I have played.

On a somewhat related note, I just recently found out when Doc Braly died that he was a member of my club and was kicked out late in life when he became a little too cantankerous towards other members and the staff.

I swing exactly like you said, X100 ss now, probably S400 soon...

it's a long shot to me, beause I live in Argentina, and the clubs were bougth at Orlando, FL
