Your Current Driver and Why?

Callaway Diablo Octane I-Mix at 33.75"

Why the Diablo Octane? Because it was cheap relative to its peers and its age when I bought it.

Why 33.75"? Because I thought I was trimming a 36" driver down to 44.75". I forgot the shaft was shorter than standard when I bought it, and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. Yes, the swingweight is somewhere around that of a marshmallow on a stick.

Ping G30 when I need straight or a slight fade. Ping G30 SF Tec when I need straight or a slight draw. I just let the course dictate which might be more appropriate on a given day.

Also, if I haven't hit balls in a week and can't hit the range before a round, I usually go with the SF Tec.

I liked the Tour 65 S in both heads, but I'm liking the Diamana Blue 83 S even more.

Note: Very glad that I decided to order some of the various Ping G30 head weights. I've got a 16g in the drivers to counter the 44" shafts and the mid size grips and 12g or 14g in the fairways to counter the mid size grips. The stock weights are either 8g or 10g. Also, why can't Ping clearly label the weights as TM always has. You need a weight scale to be certain which weights you are using. Really??

Why, why, why does Ping make these very necessary swingweight adjustments so difficult and time consuming??

I've found that many fitters don't even know the head weights can be ordered and Ping doesn't allow them to be stocked. You must place specific orders and then wait a week for your new weights to arrive. Really? Really?? Is it arrogance or just complete indifference to consumer's needs? TM figured out the necessity of making head weights available for adjustable drivers 12 years ago. Kinda sad...

But despite these administrative issues, all the G30's are long fairway finders and that is all that really matters.

Rotating between the SLDR 430/GD P9003 TX and the Bridgestone J715 B5/Aldila Rogue 125 MSI 80-TX.

They have successfully bumped my old Tour Superdeep/PX-8A4 from the bag. That one was in the bag for a while...

R15 430 TP w/ Speeder 661 Evo TS X or Rogue 125 70 TX.

Why? I tested it and all the other "better player/low spin" drivers, and it gave me the best results. Longest driver I've hit. Very straight -- kills sidespin (along with backspin). Very good dispersion. It won in a close call with the G30 LS w/ Tour 80 X. (Slight edge to the R15 in distance, plus feel and appearance at set up. Slight edge to the G30 in dispersion.)

Current driver is a fly z+ @ 10* with Atx 75 s. I have gone through all other contenders (915, g30 Ls, r15 460, 430). The longest, by far, is the 430. Crazy long. However when the swing just isn't there I lose distance. I picked this one up because I have liked all of the other cobra offerings, and it came in a better shaft ( for my needs). I do have a kiali 60 x that I want to give a try in it.

Hopped on a trackman yesterday and had a driver shootout between a 2008 Txxxx Tour Burner TP with a Blueboard 73x, R9 Superdeep TP with Project X 6.0, and the new girl, a hotmelted TDxxx RBZ Stage 2 with a Fuji Fuel TS 60x, and the RBZ blew everything away in terms of distance, spin, and shot dispersion. First white driver and I have to say, I couldn't be happier--first hotmelted club too, and it just feels and sounds so solid. The thing is an absolute cannon, but sounds like someone threw a suppressor on it.

Also, really interesting how many different Callaways are on here, and how nearly everyone who plays Ping plays the G30.

Bridgestone J715 B5.

I tested several drivers this year and bought the Bridgestone and a Cobra Fly Z+ because I was having success with both of them. After extensive usage of both drivers I settled on the Bridgestone. Got rid of the Fly Z+ because it becomes a distraction going back and forth. Any problems I have going forward are with my swing, not my driver. I got this one dialed in pretty well. (I must say, the AD MJ shaft that I stumbled upon when ordering the J715 has been a huge, pleasant surprise. Sometimes you just get lucky.)
