Brittany Lincicome's 'Wie Attack'

Her 2003 Publinx win is impressive.....but that's the ONLY* thing she's won......amateur or professional. That was 4 years ago. Her 2006 LPGA stats speak for themselves. Again....Impressive. But there are a host of other women...who've both beaten Michelle Wie and had professional success who I imagine work just as hard.

*she's won some events in hawaii.

With her record in Professional events....not counting the DQ where she would have finished 2nd. There are not many women that have beaten her judging from her placements.

I'm glad you threw in that asterisk. For the record..........here are her stats courtesty of 808golf. WIE STATS Look at the age she was winning...there are not many women or men that can come close to that.

Here's a nice article from the Honolulu Advertiser. WIE ARTICLE Wie recently did two public engagements which included four hours of autographs and also golf tips and Q&A. Particularly nice note in the article about her is the following ........

Wie's spokesman says she has donated $1,380,000 to projects as varied as Hurricane Katrina relief, Children's Hospitals in South Korea and Pittsburgh, Underprivileged Children's Care in Japan and, locally, the Department of Education and junior golf.

She got a sponsor's exemption into the Samsung. There are 20 players in that event. 20!!!!!!! Wouldn't you want the 20 best? She hasn't even played a women's event this year.

But since Sony and Samsung are one in the same....it all makes sense now.

I'd take that bet all day long, and twice on Sunday. What a lack of respect you show towards all the LPGA players ... past and present.

Pfff, :- CRY -: Yeh, Wei doesnt seem like the type to practice much... :( Her age, and what she has accomplished... Natural talent or not, you need to practice to get the results she has... (that ALOT have forgotten about it seems???)

Just seems people dont like the fact someone is getting some special treament because they are a "drawcard" same as Anna Kornikova, maybe no Grandsla wins, but still draws more specatators than ANY other Tennis player!

Smart marketing if you ask me, whether they are a winner or not... we are not talking about someone who comes DEAD LAST here... Record shows she is "usually" well above average... Im talking about Womens golf here, I dont think she should play with the men.

Maybe Brittany and some of the others should do something to make them a draw card or special in some way (oh, Brittany just did )

Then they might get some concessions... Just more whining from people who are jealous when they are not in the spot light if you ask me... (Rory... :russian_roulette: )

I never said, or even remotely approached saying that Wie doesn't practice. I'm sure she practices quite a bit ( except when her wrist hurts and she withdraws after 16 holes, 2 strokes from an 88, which would translate into being kicked off the LPGA tour for a year ). Speaking of which, I guess she should practice more. What I said is I would take YOUR bet that she practices more than 95% of the LPGA players past, or present. Wie already has way too many outside interests that cut into her time ( people, sponsors, appearances ) than most LPGA players. I'd wager there's not one Korean LPGA who doesn't practice more than Wie does. Those girls are HUNGRY and DRIVEN.

Brittany Lincicome has already had a better career than Michelle Wie.

Michelle Wie will have to work damn hard and improve markedly to even equal Lincicome's achievements by the same age.

I'd be willing to bet that Brittany Lincicome wins (again) before Michelle Wie wins.

Kinda getting off the debate here but yesterday I tuned in to watch Wie play. I was extremely dissappointed to hear that she wasn't playing well and that she droped out of the tournament.

She gets these exemptions because of people like me that enjoy watching her play. Brittany is complaining about something that Wie has no control over.

Get mad at the rich kid for being born rich.

No one said she was born rich. Lincicome wasn't biatchin cuz Wie was born rich. She was however biatchin because many many many players on the LPGA tour have busted arse for a long time to build that tour, build the purses, earn their keep, etc and Wie comes along and is handed millions of dollars in sponsorship and exemptions and can't back it up with solid play.

She got those exemption because Samsung, Deere, 84 Lumber, etc. etc. saw a money train...pure and simple. The media named her the greatest thing since sliced bread before she even won a second tournament. Keep in mind her ONLY win was in 2003. She was a phenom at the age of 13 but hasn't done jack since. The people that buy those tickets simply because of Wie are about to realize that their chain got yanked and Nike and Samsung own them.

Women's golf doesn't need fairweather fans. I am not a huge fan of Carol Bivens but good for her for not laying down for Michelle Wie like Finchem does for Tiger.

I'd like to add that if you check my posts...I do support the poor girl....but she's just that...a girl. She should be gearing up for the US Junior Amateur or the Women's Amateur for cripes sake. Not jockeying her next soundbite for the PGA Tour. You know.

One of my biggest concerns is the difference in her swing now as opposed to a couple years ago. Its not nearly as smooth or fluid as it once was, and I am not just talking about this week, I am also talking about the end of last year when she started the shorter more compact backswing and follow through. She isn't the same golfer she was when she was 13, 14, 15 or even 16. The swing that made her a phenom is basically gone. She still has the big follow through from time to time. But in general her swing has become much more mechanical. And not to knock David Leadbetter, but he seems to like a more mechanical motion, a la Charles Howell. Michelle isn't built for that type of swing. And her results since going to Leadbetter seem to support that idea.
