2016 Phoenix area course conditions thread

Played The Rim GC Tuesday.

Wow, what a great course - good layout, some tricky holes, blind shots, and the bunkers were a little sparse. Overall a really nice course - great conditions, can find the ball off the fairway, and the greens were really nice - receptive and rolled true.

If you get an opportunity to play, do it!

Every time I go camping I want to play that course. Good to hear, may have to plan a golf / camping trip.

A great course with one exception: 11 is extremely awkward. One of my favorite courses in AZ though.

FWIW don't bother with the sister course across the street (Chapparal Pines) which is amazingly penal for no apparent reason.

Whirlwind Devils claw on wendsday was great, lush course. Greens smooth and fast. Played Ahwatukee CC today. Worst course I've played since I've lived here. Had a couple favorable reviews and a cheap price. Instantly regretted it. The greens are the only decent thing on the course, but you have to hit a 10 foot put like its about a 25 foot put. Garbage. Oh yeah and aguila did punch, played there on Sunday, greens are just about back to normal.

Hate to hear that about Tukke. ForeLife and I were members there years ago. Best thing about it was the greens. Always rolling super pure and around 11. Fun track not the longest but you still had to hit a variety of shots especially off the tee.

Does the rim allow public play or just as a reciprocal? I know a few years back you could get on but thought it was fully private. If not, it's one I really want to play.

The last time I played it I called them first and they requested that I have my pro call. It was no issue though after that. You could likely even have someone at Viewpoint call.

Wickenburg Ranch, greens were absolutely pure as always, but much faster then I've ever seen them. Fairways were super low cut and everything just rolled forever. Not a long hitter by any means but had several 300+ drives today thanks to the tight fairways. They are closing Tuesday for aerification, reopen the 10th.

Southern Dunes at 1:00P today. Still 3 spots on tee off.com if anyone wants to join.

I'll be out there tomorrow with the same deal time. Please let me know what to expect.

Absolutely PURE out there right now. The greens are amazing, the fairways are amazing and the bunkers are amazing. Only bad thing are the flies right now. They put chemicals in the water to try and kill them all, it seems to be helping because they aren't as bad as they were a couple weeks ago. They are still out there in force though. A little distracting because they swarm around your putter until you make your stroke.

Good god I love this course. It never gets old and always in amazing shape.

Saguaro was pretty solid except bunkers as usually. Fairways getting firm and rolling out nicely now.

Played Eagle Mountain Thursday last week....course was in mediocre shape....lots of browning, fairly heavy watering on the fairways and greens were fairly bumpy....Not unplayable but i wouldn't pay more that $35 for it considering all of the other great summer options. Was kind of saddened because the last i played it was 7 years ago and i remember it being in awesome shape.

Played Cholla on Saturday....i know they are closing down soon but great condition....the greens were a nice speed and in great shape, as was the fairway. When I played last summer it was not in good shape at all but Saturday made me look forward to going out to WeKoPa again.

Played there last week as well, agree with the browning almost everywhere. Some bunker linings were coming up. Hole 1 green was sooooo slow. Then the next 3 holes were really fast greens. I felt it was like that all the way through.

Found it on Teeoff.com for $49...i don't get a chance to go down that way often since i live in Scottsdale but figured "What the heck"

Looking for a good non desert course to play. We are going to be playing in the afternoon so looking for something that won't beat us up too bad.

As far as non-desert there is Raven Phoenix, Aguila, Kierland but that's overpriced, Dobson Ranch, and the Padre or Ambiente courses at Camelback Golf Club.
