Played Legend of Arrowhead today. Lured me in with an Easter internet special. It is the last time I will play that course. What a joke. It is in mid summer condition in March. They should just close it and build houses. Seriously, if you can't properly maintain a golf course, just close it. Horrible conditions.

Haha, place is terrible. It is actually an interesting layout with some risk v reward holes, decent Par 5's and a good mix of Par 4's. Too bad its a pure sh!t show in terms of condition and management. Not worth the time or effort unless its around 20 dollars or so.

I haven't played this one in a couple years now but I remember having the same reaction. The tee time was dirt cheap but still not worth it. I think the course itself has potential but I have never seen that course in even decent shape.

Played Lookout Mtn Monday.

Great conditions - lush greens, decent speed, good bunkers, very little water. Could not have asked for any better conditions.

I like the course - take away 12-14 and this is a solid golf course for a resort course. Short Par 5's are its weakness.

Pace was awful - 4:50 round. I blame the 11 yo kid in front of us.

Papago on Monday. Pace was good, we were off at 8 and were done around 12:30. Course is in prime shape.

Greens were hard as I've ever seen them, I wasn't able to get anything to spin. Took a few holes to adjust to the big first hop, never got a good feel for the speed of the greens and horribly misread a putt on 11 from the front right portion to the back left hole that lead to a three putt bogey. They were very smooth though. Shot a very boring 41-41, could have been a great round, but wasn't able to capitalize. Only had 26 putts, lots of missed greens and biride looks from the fringes. Couldn't get the ball close and didn't make anything all day.

There was some Sctratch golf tournament after us, would have been neat to see the scores they posted.

Decided to give Las Sendas a go today. It was $29, so tough to beat.

Course was very lush and green, fairways were great to hit from. Greens held pretty and rolled pretty good. Bunkers had an appropriate amount of sand.

All in all great condition. I enjoyed the course except for the Par 5 and weak par 3 on the front. If those were improved, I would think it wold be much better.

However, the service sucked like it has in the past. The bag drop guy was a tool and useless. Incredibly rude to many folks. The starter was clueless: Instead of smoothing out the tee times by matching groups up, he sent a 2, 4, 2, 4. I asked to go with the 2nd 2 and he told me that I have been put with a 3some....not sure what that was about. Ended up a 5 hour round.

All in all, it was ok. I would go back at that price.

I'd pass on Sendas but might be interested in longbow as long as it's not too late have dinner plans.

Maryvale/GCU today.

I thought Papago had hard greens!!! At least you can make a ball mark there, no such luck at GCU. We played back to front, which apparently is the way they are going to route the course in the future. New signs and scorecards are on order.

I really liked the layout, but some of the Cross bunkers are overkill and will be a maintenance nightmare. The condition of them were really nice, but a pain to get out of. The sand is super soft, especially when coming from Aguila and Papago. Played off the whites, so played pretty short for me, I think about 6200y. I'd likely move back a tee if I was playing by myself.

The hard greens, were fast, hard, smooth, hard, rolled very true while being very hard. Still really struggling with speed down here. I'm caught thinking the greens are faster than they are.

Hoping to get to Longbow tomorrow.

Lost my post.

Bunkers sucked.

Pace sucked. 5:20 playing with 3 women, held up on every tee.

Service sucks. Waited 20 mins for a cart at the bag drop before walking to range.

We saw a "ranger" on the 2nd hole and never again. All he said was "it should smooth out later" - uhh, nope.

What is it with the service there? They tried to be private, they are trying to get "members"...yet people are treated like garbage.

Devils Claw today. 12:45 tee time got mud balls throughout the entire front nine so typical Troon overwatered conditions. Greens firm a bit inconsistent. Late afternoon bermuda hard to keep ball on its line. Talk about repetitive green complexes. Every green has a 2-3 foot ridge running across it.

Blows my mind that they charge 140-160 bucks for that course. We played on a troon card 2-1 but was still $47 so $90 rate for troon card holders is pretty laughable.

Good to have CBarron back in town though.

Pace 4:45 was brutal. The D1 mens college tournament there finished in the same pace on Cattail

Saguaro today, pretty close to perfect. Bunkers pretty consistent. They did have one pin - #8 - that was simply a mistake: it was impossible to get closer than 8 feet. The response, however, was amazing - the guy I called in the clubhouse was out to look at it before we finished #9. A few of the other pin placements were questionable, which was weird as it didn't look like they had any kind of event or tournament going. It was a good reminder of just how great the green complexes are and how the greens can provide as much defense as the course ever needs.

When they rotate through pin locations 1/2/3 location 2 can yield some brutal spots as that is the location that ends up front placement on all the false front greens 1 6 8 14. Many times when we're on location 2 i feel the hole placements on those 4 holes can be borderline unplayable. I've seen accomplished players putt the ball off 14 with the front left pin.

Wickenburgh Ranch. Perfect. Except for bunker sand which felt like old crusty oatmeal. Don't hit them in there and you will be fine. Loved the course.

When do rates start to drop? End of April or end of May?

Slight drops this week then again early May. Full summer rates usually start around end of May

Raptor today pretty solid tee to green. Fairways a little damp trying to hold on to the rye. Bunkers good greens rolled true a bit slower than i was expecting but they're trying to reach Augusta speed by Sunday for an event so they might have been letting them slow up a bit to avoid killing them
