Saw a few I had not heard Thug. Now that is a long and historical list !

Heard an old prison guard ,escorting an inmate who started to pull away...." Dont even think about it...i'll slap the ugly right off your face"

I knew I wasn't supposed to,but i busted out laughing....I was young at the time !

Question for grillsters:

How did we end up with the following phrases?:

Gaming

sick (meaning something is good)

murdered( meaning something is good)

rock it..meaning wearing or trying something

pull the trigger...meaning buy something...

did it all derive from the video games the younger people started playing 15 years ago,and now they are in their twenties

and early thirties?

Really churns up thought! Just love colorful language and analogies. My FIL (RIP) was a walking compendium of phrases I haven't heard before or since. "He's as screwed up as Hogan's goat." Which was to say a person is dazed, confused, or maybe ill, or drunk. Just saying dazed or drunk wasn't colorful enough for him. If one person asked him the whereabouts of someone else who had already left, he'd say, "That bird has already sh%t and flew." The man said stuff like this endlessly. He was a fountain of such things - most of them sarcastic. When the wife and I were dating, my mom and her dad met out in public. Mom was a little dolled-up for some sort of church thing or something. He looked at her and said, "Hey, you clean-up pretty good." It was a compliment in his mind. My mom is much more literal. LMAO she was totally insulted. Took me a while to talk her through that one.

Why or how the ones you've mentioned ever caught-on is really a good question.

Alright grillers, here it is. The Foley list. Warning: some of them will make you double over, and some of them contain very un-pc language. But we're all adults here. Enjoy!

Surprising how many of those I know, what does that make me? :)

It's an epic list Thug. Heck I'm glad to run into characters like that.

I remember a Project Manager once in a past who fit the bill for everything we're describing here. He might have seemed at first to be a little silly or even dumb on the surface. LMAO it was a mistake to ever underestimate that man. He talked like Gomer on steroids, but he was nobody's dummy.

I've never been an artist like you tol, but back in the 60's, I used to buy these pieces of wood that showed the grain, maybe 6X18 or so, and paint the natural grains of the wood each with a different psychedelic color, then you could put the pic under a black light, it was totally far out. People liked my whacko art... I usually gave them away.

Sixty, art comes in many forms and as with most things in life is a very personal journey. Some people do not like my art as it is too real, they like art to be different from life. We have a friend that does all sorts of weird things but some of them are really good.

Right, well that was way back then of course. The 60's were a different world than now. If I were to paint or to learn to paint that is, I would try to do it the way you are doing. It might not be as beautiful, but it would be fun and of course my way of putting down on canvas what I want to deliver..hey, maybe I should stick to music :)

Having been such a huge fan of the original Chicago, I am not normally a fan of any band that still has parts of the original band and adds to it (a la Eagles) you just can't recreate a good thing. However, I really like this video of the newer Chicago at this Hall of fame ceremony. With Robert Lamm singing, Danny Seraphine back at drums and of course the horn section that never left, and the singer that sounds so much like Pete Cetera... fabulous job....

I manage a group of milineals....the phrases continue to change...one of them taught me how to use Snapchat and occasionally calls me “Work Dad”...lol

I remember working in a gas station, and playing in a band, living in North Tonawanda NY. I had some friends who were going to Woodstock and asked me if I wanted to go. I said 'nah, it's not gonna be that big of a deal, besides I gotta work...'

:slow_en:

Wow. That’s epic. I had a similar experience when I was 17. A good friend of mine had issue number 1 of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....he told me that it was going to be huge, and that I should get in on the ground floor. I took one look at it, tossed it back to him and said “This sh*t is going nowhere.” Years later he was producing thee animated series and I was thinking what might have been....lol

So I watched the video of the i500s WRX had with Marty Jertson of Ping. After hearing I'm more

convinced they are mini hybrids essentially; which isn't a bad thing I suppose but I am less tempted

now by them. I think I'll stick with my MAWBBs and stay way from these TRAMP irons.

In GA it is now illegal to touch your phone while driving. Can not hold it or touch the screen if it's in a holder, can not even rest it on your leg etc. Not sure how they would know that but that's now the law.

Mark is a contrarian of sorts and I'm sure everyone is familiar with his schtick, but it almost sounds like he is TRYING to not like these irons in his review.

I'm sure some of you have run across this YT channel, if you haven't some of his videos are entertaining from a golf standpoint. I saw him on a Rick Shiiels’ vid and looked up some of his stuff. I don't care for most of his new stuff but he does have some interesting vids available. Like this:

Seems like a dude with a lot of money that likes golf on a little bit deeper level..? Of course he's using it as a pathway to generate income, but if you do what you love you never work a day in your life....

Not 100% sure on this dude or his channel but there are some legit vids there IMO.

Thanks Spooky. I watched both Crossfield's and Shiel's reviews and Shiels's review of the i210s while

I was in that mode. The reviews were about what I expected after listening to Marty explain these irons.

My conclusion; I would be better off playing hybrids in the mid to long irons as they will launch higher

and spin more. I'm just not a fan of low spinning irons. I can get that with my i20s; they feel great and

are long but less spin makes them harder to control.

Funny, I bought a $10 best of Chicago double cd a few months ago strolling through walmart. I actually had to give myself an intervention because I couldn't stop listening to them (just cd1, the 2nd cd was all their elevator stuff after Terry Kath died). I am proud to say I haven't listened to Chicago for over 2 weeks!

Just noticing Skunk and thinking how some keep their trademark into old age. He's been sporting

that face hair look for a long long time. I thought the same thing when I saw later pics of Leon

Russell. He wore his hair the same way until the end. Same for Willie Nelson. He switched to

his roots look and never looked back and it seems he doesn't age either, lol.

Interesting comments by Crossfield that strikes a chord with me. What if you don't have spin to give back to the course? This is an important question that I'm not really seeing being addressed with current club design trends. It's all about reducing spin to gain distance.

For me, the driver tech from 5 years ago was tough enough to deal with as a low spin player and now they're taking it one step further with these hollow irons! None of it really works for me as my distance with driver was maxed out years ago in what is currently considered a high spin design in the TM R7 425 from 2005!

The only solution that a player such as myself is being presented with is to go lighter and longer in a vain attempt to generate more swing speed, but all that manages to do is try and stop the decline that current design trends are creating. It strikes me as ironic that Ping came into existence as Karsten Solheim worked to create designs that would help the average player. They've really started to abandon those tenets in recent iterations. :(

Talked too soon, tooled this morning.

Fitted draught excluder to garage door, it is an inside door. There was a 1/4” gap all round, except for on small area so when it was fitted the door would not shut, had to alter the door lock. The bottom strip was slightly too tall and caught on the automatic catch to keep the door open, had to alter the bottom strip. So, what was a five minute job took nearly an hour.

Dog decided he did not want to be clipped, so I spent ages chasing him around the yard, he would not settle, took nearly two hours instead of 30 mins. Decided all other jobs cancelled for the day as there is the potential for disaster with all of them.

The average player I think is their target, trying to persuade us we can all be tour players. I am with you, most of us are more interested in accuracy than distance, I know my game is better for not trying to smash the ball further.

The average player I think is their target, trying to persuade us we can all be tour players. I am with you, most of us are more interested in accuracy than distance, I know my game is better for not trying to smash the ball further.

My game is better when I do one thing concerning accuracy, and that's get as full of a turn as possible. That doesn't mean a high or deep Bubba back swing of course, just a better turn. It slows me down, sets a better rhythm, brings me back to the ball more square, and sets the stage for a proper follow through. It never fails, if I don't do a better turn I can immediately see it in my accuracy. But when I do I can see it every time. The other thing it does for me is it seems to give me more height in my iron shots which I prefer. It also allows the lower body to clear better first and get the hands out ahead of the face of the club instead of casting. Works for me, plus I don't I don't turn the right shoulder up and to the left afterward at the follow through with the shoulders which I have a bad tendency to do, keeps the right shoulder under for me. I've had some corny bad habits if I let them seep in... So I try to make sure to get a good turn turn turn...
